I "coded" this on my ID8, this weekend. It seems louder in the car, now. Originally, I had inactivated the "main" ASD setting in Bimmercode. I felt it could be quieter and did the expert mode coding provided here. However, I believe it's louder, now. I did use the valve control button and it becomes very quiet - it's very nice. But, I don't want to have to touch that button each time I get in the car.

Seems like the expert coding isn't working as intended, since others aren't seeing (or hearing haha) the results they expect. I'll probably reverse the expert coding and see if it helps. It's unbearably loud with a drone, now.

You probably coded the "asd channel in" to 8 ch when stock is at 1. I noticed the same thing that you did when I coded that one. I think it's pumping ASD through all the speakers. The drone was horrible.

Any updates to this? I want to install my amp and sub but asd has to be horrible with that set up.

I think I mirror everyone else by wanting just want the sound not to be pumped into the cabin!

Where do you back up the activation codes? I haven’t been able to tell.

Bimmercode backs it up automatically when you deactivate it. The backup itself goes in the bimmercode folder on your device.

I deactivated mine. It really shuts off when you turn the codes off. Now it’s vault like quiet inside. I mean really quiet.

Same here, I will be installing a VSC valve controller I have on the shelf witch did the trick in my past M4C.

The perfect setup for me would be a CSL muffler since I don't like the tip arrangement of the M Performance one and I don't want anything loud, I actually like the silent OEM setup when I am just driving around or on phone calls.

I still do not understand clearly if asd can be fully deactivated in ID8. I do not want a valve controller and at this time not interested in aftermarket audio equipment.

Use the activation code method it worked for me. And what's nice about is it only removes the speaker stuff and leaves the actuation of the valves and burbles intact.

The only method that worked for me (2023 M3) is the one described in the first post by playswcars

Deactivate in expert all ASD_*
Deactivate ASD in non-expert.

you are still getting the valve controlled by the exhaust button and the engine setting (exhaust is still louder in sport mode)

This is the only thing I did to code off ASD in my 2023 iDrive8 G80. I have installed an aftermarket amp and subwoofer using the technic pnp harness and I have zero exhaust sounds in cabin.

Using Bimmercode

- Connect
- Select “Receiver Audio Module”
- Select “Activation codes” from the menu in the top right corner
- Select the ASD activation code
- Select “Deactivate activation code”

Hi I’ll appreciate your feedback, I’m looking to install JLAudio sub. You have to use Bimmerpost first? And what is a technic pnp? Thank you!

If you don't code out ASD before you add the amp and sub, you'll hear the exhaust rumble through the sub, very annoyingly.

Search for technic pnp harness online. You want the Top HiFi (Option 688) Add-a-Sub Harness for RAM/Booster audio systems. Get the LOC150i kit option for line level signals and power on trigger to the amp. Then just add any amp and sub sized for your space and taste.

Has anyone seen any issues with OTA Updates after Deactivate activation code? Did you need to reactive prior to the OTA?

I have mine deactivated, I hate fake noise, plus I added a sub .

Thanks

All custom coding gets wiped when you do a software update.

so if I do it in expert mode I have to disable everything?
does this also means I losse burbles?

I want to disable it without losing the burbles, is that even possible?
