This is rhetorical…why would someone buy a car that they don't even want to look at?
As much as I dislike digital M cars, I have come to realize that I can't even look at an M car with an "xdrive" badge on it. I am sorry for my negativity. It is not my money, so please enjoy this car in good health and wishing you thousands of smiles per gallon |

Sure. But I think most people decided to hate it because others did. The automotive community is filled with nutriders and bandwagoners. People want validation. I say F that. Going against the grain is a fun and lively experience.

This thread was an interesting read. First off, there seems to be some belief that people have gotten used to the front end and actually like it? That's not true - yes, some have, but the majority of people you might question on the street are not fans. A Euro plate helps break it up, a US plate looks out of place, and no plate? Yikes.
And Matt points this out, and then goes on to point out all the incredible things this car has going for it - yes, it is a special car, with a PPN. and... I don't understand why we can't have people post their opinions of their car - unless they are "positive" for fear of being banned from future BMW purchases or the board. These forums are for lots of things - debate included, but to be very clear, the world does not love the new front end of the G8x cars and that's not going to just "go away".

I do not agree with him on all things, but he gets cars and has owned many BMW’s and IMO speaks for many BMW fans regarding The G80 front-end. It did not need to happen, staying truer to BMW history in design language, would have been preferred to many of us that have owned the prior generations. |

I thought I would keep my E92M forever. But when Chris Harris started making fun of a G80 test car with his "bucked teeth" it was annoying— and I subsequently saw it at the dealership and I started to fall in love with it!
The ID team emulated the intakes of a jet fighter. Ha ha I laugh about it now- wherever I go I get a thumbs up. E92M blended in like just another 3 series — though I never really cared if I got attention anyway; but I just think it's very interesting that this G80 (who everybody dogs on) in a *low key* color (not "look at me" purple or green or orange) is getting lots of positive attention now in traffic.

Guys. It's a bumper lol.
It's not the prettiest bmw ever made but sheesh some of you are going to the grave kicking and screaming about why someone might not find it attractive now 2 years later. Has any M3 ever been perfect? There's always been something to complain about yet "enthusiasts" still buy them. How many times was the E9x raked over the coals for its lack of torque? How many people hated the farts of the S55 F8x? (I still do) The only thing the G80 doesn't have going for it is universal adoration for its design (and perhaps the weight) but it's a stellar summation of parts with ridiculous performance. It is completely ok for anyone to use their money the way they please. Quit getting your panties in a bunch Matt is obsessed with M3's but not the front end of a G80 that makes up 5% of the car. I can't believe someone said BMW should prevent you from buying BMW's |

Ok ok I’ll Be the first to say it.. the F80 is so much better looking
On a serious note, Matt definitely did inspire me in the beginning for sure, especially with me having legitimate OCD. I do occasionally watch his newer videos and do get a sales vibe from them. Hoping I’m wrong, but like many in the industry his videos turned into a regular sales gig missing that og authenticity. However, how can you blame him to turn a passion into a legitimate business? Not my money nor business but personally being an enthusiast with OCD I could never rent this bad boy out. The front end comments are getting old though (coming from a f80 fanboy lol) Money2536 that darn wash mitt on the floor got my OCD going in circles man. Congrats on the car! Occurred twice on Tuesday night just going through the drive thru line at In & Out and again this afternoon. And that's just this week. Can't even count in total how many people I've had say how good my car looks at stop lights, gas stations, parking lots, etc. over the last year I've owned it. Even had people specifically tell me how they heard about how people have hated the grille but they don't understand the hate because they really like it as well Whenever a G8x post hits the front page people from other parts of this forum like to chime in and say the general public hates the grille and the general consensus is that it's ugly, and yet driving it on a daily basis tells me otherwise. I've gotten more compliments on this car in the last year than I have on all my other vehicles over the last 25+ years of driving.

But like I said, the car is amazing from every other angle - and performance wise? Amazing.

I’ve gotten so much positive feedback about this car in this color. I too thought the grille looked hideous at first, but the right color with the right accent pieces around it really make the car look mean and unique all at once. It’s pushing boundaries for sure, but that’s what design is supposed to do.

Its funny to see some people get all bent out of shape about what he's saying. I've just been watching his videos for so long, I'm used to it. I was watching back when he used to wash cars with no shoes on. I appreciate the product chase on his channel. I, myself, tend to like the best stuff, or at least want to understand the options and why some things out there, are just junk. Some videos are ranty, some aren't. It's all good content. I don't get offended with anything, so, it doesn't matter to me, what's said in the videos, or posts. Hes consistent in how he feels, and I'm in it for the product chase. Some stuff I take my own opinion, but still make my own decision. I like good pressure washers, but I don't use one more than once or twice a month, so I went Active 2.0, and it's great. I'm interested in seeing the Bilt Hamber series. I'm past the Beadmaker, it's been garbage for me. And Matt mentioned something about Dream Maker streaking, on a recent wash. I've switched to Ethos, which is miles better. D3fy and Finish Shine are miles better than Beadmaker. Cant wait to see the mods done to the G80. Make sure you check the AST spring squeak thread on making sure you rotate the spring isolators, the correct way, so the springs don't make noise. Here's the thread. https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1891481

Your purchase story can be made as a movie I suppose. A guy doesn't like the girl entirely but takes a leap of faith and marries her and leaves the rest to fate! Congrats and good luck I guess!
P.S. Your girl looks stunning (except her big grin and that xdrive badge) |

Matt hates the front and sells every turbo BMW he buys. This car will be in a raffle within six months.

" post it under a friends name and say "do you like the front end of this car?" The general public is rarely going to tell you "you know I don't like the look of your car" or "I don't like the look of the front end of your car". While there are plenty of exceptions, the world tends to be somewhat polite (or possibly you are a big dude and they are afraid to confront you ). Either way, most people are not going to walk up to someone and tell them they dislike their car/color/etc. So have someone (other than you) post a picture up and say "hey, vote, do you like the look of this front end?" And while I would be curious of the results, if YOU like the front end, then at the end of the day, who cares what the public thinks? Quote:
