I need help! Launch control at drag strip

This might be stupid but I searched everywhere and couldn’t find anything particular as to what to do and what not to do.

First thing is I know how to use Launch control and have already used it at least 10 times doing some draggy runs. I have my M2 button all set so it’s just press confirm them put in manual mode and I am good to go.

The Gray area, you have to bring the car up to operating temperature to be able to use. From what I seen online you have to drive 6 miles to be able to use LC. Ok so I drove to the track and upon getting there while I was registering my car I turned my car off briefly, then went down to the lanes and turned it off again for a few minutes then the lanes started moving and when I was up to race LC would not engage

From getting to the track to racing it was all about 15 minutes. Can anyone one tell me if turning off the car resets the 6 mile Operating temp issue? Do I literally have to keep the car turned on the entire time at the drag strip to avoid the issue?

Yup, it's a pain. I left the drag strip, drove 3 miles out and then came back to the staging lanes and kept the car running.

Is it possible that you have to drive it 6 miles, everytime the car is turned off and back on, again, regardless of the temperature?

If you shut if off for a few minutes, all of the oil in the engine, and the transmission has settled back down into the oil pans.

The 6 miles is likely to not only help the car get up to temp, but also to get a few complete lubrication cycles through the motor.

Driving the 6 miles allows you to activate the launch control, no matter if the engine is completely warmed up, or not. Just a guess, but, its something to try.

why are you using launch control? set your tire pressure properly, turn off launch control and traction control. drive around the water box, do a quick launch to clean your tires off. stage, stall it up, and go. if you're blowing all four tires off then get your buddy to spray some of this stuff in front of all four tires right before you do your clean off spin before staging.

The BMW launch control seems like it gives faster shifting or something.... My slowest time at the track was without launch control, the car still hooked great but was overall slower.
