Brake pedal pulsing with wipers?

Anyone notice when their windshield wipers are on and the vehicle is at a complete stop the brake pedal pulse's with the movement of the wipers. Very strange and I've read on some other forums that this is happening on other 3 series. Just want to know if this is normal....

Haha!! Actually it does!! Kinda feels weird - I can't think of what the wipers would do to cause it.

By the way ... you can only feel it when the vehicle is at a complete stop. At 5 mph you can't feel it.

Hmm... I never felt this.. I will pay extra attention next time. I think it's the Brake Drying Feature in operation. The E90 will use data from the rain sensor and lightly wipes the brake dry for better braking performance.

I have noticed this the other day during a downpour - gave me a chance to see what the wipers were like... It was very subtle though.

This has been discussed in another post, and I think it was E90Fleet who pointed out that this is the brake disc wipe function, it operates in conjunction with the wipers to slightly touch the surface of the brake discs with the brake pads periodically in order to keep them dry for optimal stopping in wet conditions.

Its because the wiper motor is attached to the firewall. The brake pedal is attached to the firewall as well.

its because the e90 has a advanced brake drying system. When the wipers are on the brakes have a little tension on them so it dryes the brakes without making contact. Thats what you feel... Scared me the first time also. But thats what it is. Just another amazing invention by BMW haha

The brake drying makes sense... but I now feel it everytime I'm stopped with the wipers on. No worries though... I'm still smiling everytime I slide into the seat!!! By the way finally reached 1500 miles and put it to the red line today... WHOA!! Nice acceleration for 215hp and AWD!

This is not related to the brake-drying function. We've been talking about a stationary car, from the beginning of this post.

That said, I don't think there is anything wrong with the car. It's just a strange feeling.

Hahaha... we almost need a vote!! But I think I'm going to go with the firewall/wiper motor theory. It makes sense as the wipers go to the stow position then when they reactivate is when the pulse occurs (in time with the wiper motor). The brake drying feature shouldn't be operating at a stop. But who knows... I'm going to shoot an email to BMWNA and try to get some resolution on this mystery.

I haven't noticed it, but it would be (as others have mentioned) the brake drying system - which works in conjunction with the rain sensor.

How about this? Try going out to your car, do not start your car but only your windshield wipers. See if the brake pedal pulses. The Brake Drying feature shouldn't work if not in the 'on' position.
