Can I Use My BMWFS Rate Lock at a Different Dealer?

I've been having issues with my dealer...big surprise, right?

So, I'm thinking of passing on the car I have on order with one dealer in favor of a different car with a different dealer.

With rates going up monthly, my "locked" BMWFS rate is already 'in the black' and I'd hate to lose a decent rate just because my current dealer relationship is not working.

Has anyone had any experience with using your locked BMWFS rate that was locked by one dealer to purchase a new car from a different dealer?

I can certainly call FS, but rather than chase my tail and get 5 different answers, I wanted to see if anyone here has any experience doing this so if I go down this path, I know what actually can be/has been done.

I believe the answer is unfortunately "no," since I had to fill out a separate BMWFS application with each dealer I had placed a deposit with. I asked whether they could just use the same one that was submitted by the other dealer and accepted by BMWFS, but they said it has to be initiated by the purchasing dealership.

Did you submit your application through BMWfs webpage or your dealer.

I completed my application through BMWfs webpage and the approval states - "This credit approval is valid with dealer XXX only" (dealer i chose while submitting the application).

Good question....I think it was through my dealer, BUT I actually didn't fill anything our for my dealer. A week or so prior to my dealer locking my rate, I submitted all of my current credit info to FS to extend my current lease in the "easy out" lease program. So the answer might actually be both....
