I was referring to fellow members who were trying to flip their personal build allocation for a profit.

I understand your point. But i think we weren't complaining much when brokers used to get us great discounts couple of years back than what a customer could get walking into a dealership. Unless the mainstream manufacturer eliminates the middlemen like few EV manufacturers, this thing will not improve.

And at MSRP you/we are just enriching the dealer. There is nothing my dealer has done to earn the $8k they will gross on my car. Half that maybe because of the infrastructure and investment they have made, but not something like 12% just for filling out a few forms and cashing my check....

Not that I'm defending certain dealerships and their shady business practices, but we do live in a capitalistic economy. ADM is the only way some dealerships are making money these days since they don't have the volume of inventory to sell like they used to before COVID.

This Supply & Demand model can also be your friend of course when the pendulum swings the other way and prices start to drop....

These no value add positions need to be eliminated in a world where access to information is available to everyone and transparency is super important.

Also supply and demand issues are creating these anomalies that need to be eliminated in a fair practice world.

Bmw and the rest of the old school manufactures should follow EVs and modernize the system.

It's coming....

In the US there are a lot of laws that give dealers some protection from this, but Ford is one of the first "old school manufacturers" to be getting past this by letting the dealers sell the ICE cars and moving their EVs under a different umbrella/company so at some point I expect Ford will pull their EVs from current dealers and will sell them direct. Leaving the dealers to only sell the dying ICE models.

These guys do a pretty good job of explaining what I am trying to articulate.

Agreed! There is no difference in my eyes.

I abhor when a dealer marks up a customer ordered car that is a few days from delivery. That's greedy and unconscionable.

I look here and members celebrate someone selling their used g80/82 for 100k+ (includes taxes and a profit) just as a dealer would. Not seeing how this is any better.

Thank goodness we draw the line at members trying to profit from allocation sales

Big difference between a corporate affiliated dealership marking up a brand new car and someone who already bought the car selling it for more... but I digress.

If someone is selling their vehicle privately, will they price it based on the current market dictates (most likely over MSRP) or based on previous history (typical M depreciation curve). I think the answer is pretty straightforward.

I hate paying over MSRP on a mass production car. If this was a rare only 1500 built bmw, then I'd reconsider. But an m car that is likely to be updated in a year or two is not worth it IMHO. I treat these cars as jack of all trades so makes no sense to overpay as if it is a collectible.

Same with all AMGs.

I do realize that some people do treat these as collectibles so they would be willing to overpay. Specially in my vicinity market. All the best for them and I'll be buying their cars when they reach collectible level if at all 😂
