Reading about Apple Carplay being deleted due to chip shortages makes me wonder what else has been changed or deleted since I am now mid-production and have not heard a peep about any of this from my SA.

Is there a location where all of these changes are documented? I tried to use the VIN sites and since I am mid-production I get nothing. I also can never get the BMW Garage to work so I can't even look for a build sheet. Could call my SA, but I am already pissed off at her.

As of now, the only deletion from US market is the touch removal from idrive controller.

Same as what's been said above, idrive touch controller and also temporary deletion of wifi services (including Carplay). This will get corrected by a software update between March-May. I believe they've changed suppliers and are just waiting on the driver software.

Mine is also mid-production, where did you find the deletion news?
Basically once a VIN is created, the build should be finalized, so I don't think it will impact any mid-production cars

This is interesting. The other evening in my Sept 2021 production G80, the car did the OTA app updates, and then a message popped up that said something like wi-fi enabled. I’ve never seen that message before. Nor have I tried the wi-fi or apple carplay since taking delivery back in November. Now I want to try it and see.

For anyone that is mid production my suggestion is to use the f12 developer tools in my garage. From there, you can get a list of the equipment/build codes for your car and match them to the codes from the ordering guide for your model.

I got into my car's profile with F12 open. Not sure where to look for stuff there. I have both my current M4 in my garage and my production number only so far M8 there. Do I need a VIN or will just the production number work?

There is some debate on the M8's if they cut the HUD or not. They talk about it on the BMW page about the car, but it's not listed in the standard features, although it is on the M850. I'm going to be really annoyed if they cut the HUD.

Dont go to your car's page. Just try it at the garage page. If you have more than 1 bmw, its the page where you can see them all.

Then press f12, refresh the page and dig down in those lines as the other thread details.

I've never been able to add my car that's in production to "My Garage". Every time it says "We're Sorry (no they're not). An error occurred and My BMW Garage is unavailable at this time."..

Luckily, SpeedATL gives me updates almost daily on my car

I've tried 4 different browsers and have never been able to get it to do anything different. I cannot understand why I can't even get it to add the vehicle to my garage...

I've been trying to determine if option 6NS is included or not (Enhanced Bluetooth). Maybe that is what was updated for you?

I called the (not very smart) "Genius" today.

First, the phone system is a major PITA to get to an actual person. I lost track of how many times I cussed at the British robot woman to no avail. I finally got to a very pleasant female who was clearly trying to help find the information I was asking about, but had no knowledge about any of it, nor apparently did any of her Genius colleagues, nor could any of them find any info on what I was asking. My build page has "removal zcode" listed. I asked what that referred to and neither or nor apparently anyone else in the office that she seemed to send an office wide message to had a clue what it meant. She finally just decided that it was an "internal BMW build code". That's a version of Dealer-speak. I then asked if my car was going to have a HUD saying that it wasn't on the standard options list, but is talked about on the website for the M8. After much searching... "Hmmm... it doesn't seem to be listed as an option so it must not be available."

So I talked to Dan Next Level Auto Brokers where I'm getting my car. He said the Zcode refers to the 50 year Roundel removal back to the standard one, and he talked to the dealer about the HUD who said that "It’s in centernet under our ordering guides". So hopefully everything shows up on the car when I see it.

I finally got a chance to set up wireless carplay last night. It worked. My owner's manual app vehicle information "imprint" tab is showing I'm on idrive software from 7/2021.

Candidly, carplay may have worked this whole time for me. I've had the car for many months, but didn't really care to try it out until last night.

No idea. Finally set up carplay, and it worked well.

I hope I have the enhanced bluetooth, since I now want to set up a second iphone to be connected to the car at the same time as the primary (carplay) iphone. And apparently that only works with the enhanced bluetooth.

It used to be an easy phone system. Last year they changed it to that dumb b****.
