I don't know, good job on the render. But looking at it on my screen, I block the snout grill with one hand and see the rest of the car makes me think what a bad ass car. But as soon as I take my hand off and see the snout... makes me think how unattractive it is. I really want to like it but I just can't.

Great job on the render

But no matter how long I look at the front, I just can't get warm with it...
It's a shame this is going to be a beast in terms of driving performance, but it is just ugly

Looks Nice, if only they would have used csl hommage style Kidney grills to introduce that new style kidney grills. They are less extreme and look far better. I sincerely hope BMW won't go down the same road, and will do a better job with the next gen BMW M2 front end. Fingers crossed...

Fire them now.

Nice render, but I really hope the new Alpha Romeo doesn't get M8 Competition wheels

Not at all, no. Go look at E46 pre and post LCI headlights, just for starters. And I doubt it was the first. Bumpers have also changed at LCI time in many prior BMW models. Grills? G generation may be the first there - I'm not sure either way.

Eventually changes will go to the G80/82 (less than 2 years from its launch).
The only changes you'll see two years from launch are changes to the rear of the G80 to coincide with the G20 LCI. Front end changes will come nearly four years from now, when the G22 LCI happens.

In my opinion, grill changes are not likely at LCI unless perhaps there is a retreat to something shorter and wider, which is a possibility.

Also it's already a given that S58 will receive a TU at some point of its lifecycle (could be at LCI or later), with 48v incorporation for efficiency improvement, and most importantly tackling the turbo lag issue.
Highly likely, yes, but not necessarily to feature in the G8x. The S58 isn't going anywhere - it along with all current BMW engines (except the S63 which will soon become the S68) will be with us until the end of the ICE according to reports about BMW engine development - so there's many years over which refinements will come and be phased into the product lineup.

Hi mkoesel, thanks for the information.

Technically yes, there is headlight revision with the E46, and thus the bumper. However, G generation is a whole new level and has a very different story behind. And you probably are also right, G80 front end improvement may coincide with G82/G22. However, imagine when that day comes, what kind of reality will these old faced Ms deal with?

What I was getting at is, BMW is undergoing an unprecedented radical changes. And there're unsettlement from top (management) down (execution), both aesthetically (and technologically). To the magnitude that they cannot even wait and keep consistent throughout the generation.

Also, technology wise, for example - they told no long before, that once BMW implements 48V with petrol engine, it will be the 2nd generation 48V (incorporated into gearbox instead of hanging up on the engine). But now for whatever reason, they just released new cars with the old 48v tech (which Merc and Audi have used for at least half a generation), and there is no further comments.

From the look of it now, it's inevitable the G80/82 will get an engine update before the lifecircle ends, either be it a 48V system, or some other mechanical improvements. S58 isn't going anywhere, it just disapoints. Will get renamed to S58tu or S59 when the update comes.

Great render OP.

To answer your other question, no I would not buy due to the front end as it doesn't match the rest of the car. Rear looks pretty good though with the black diffuser in lieu of the the body colored one from the other day.

Where are you hearing that the M3 will share (more or less) the M4 grille? My understanding was that the 4 series and M4 will be different to 3 series and M3 so M3 front will be closer to M340i than it will be to the M4? The G80 front end seems a more closely guarded secret but I've probably missed something... Not long to wait for the real thing now...

That's the best recent post on the topic, but it has been discussed, rehashed, and analyzed well over a dozen times on this forum in the past year or so. It is fact.

So much talk and speculation on render prior every generation of M3/4 shows up. But, It's almost guaranteed that every single time the actual car debuts, it does surprises us all in a good way and we all end up liking it. Keep on guessing it must be fun.

I quite like this car and its bold styling and don't really mind the coffin grills as much anymore. I'm just put off by the lack of a hoffmeister kink. Doesn't feel like a BMW without it IMHO.

Nice job on the render, but the front 4" of the car are still hideous. And, is it getting M mirrors or did Dukec decided to do away with that M tradition as well?
