Hey guys just traded my A90 Supra for a ‘24 M4, pretty stoked! This is a WAY different kind of forum than what I’m used to but I’ll just start here. Future plans:
JB4
DP’s
Wheel Spacers
Lower, not sure which way yet
Bimmercode the usual, or at least what was usual to the Supra (DONE)

That’s pretty much it, I want to keep this nice n clean. My Supra was a bit a obnoxious and EVERYONE wanted to race, felt like I was in my 20’s again, lol. So this build will be clean and classy!

Drop some suggestions on anything I should know, I’d appreciate it!

Cheers!!

Couple of easy free mods. I live in WA and this time of year we get a lot of rain, we have clean air, so I take out the air filters and replace them with wire mesh. This obviously has a lot more air flow and the sound is beautiful! I did this on the Supra and the sound was amazing! Also I took out the tabs in the valves and wired them open then put the servos back on. I'm amazed how good the factory exhaust sounds, in fact I think I'll just to downpipes and keep the rest stock....

I would recommend against using minimal filtering like that screen. Even though the air is clean everyone’s car tires and roadway rub on each other to create road grit. Minimal filtering is known for letting dust and sand/grit get sucked through the system, which can scratch piston ring edges, piston walls, and get ground grit in your oil. A Blackstone report taught me a lesson on my F80.

For lots of woosh, a great price, and an easy install, take a look at the ARM Silicone shorty intakes with cone filters. For about $250 you’ll be set to woosh, and without any risk of grit getting sucked through.

If you want to check your setup…go get two 12 layer gauze 4x4 pads, spray with some WD-40 (your temporary filter oil) and fit one 4x4 over top of each metal screen with a rubber band holding it tight. Go drive your usual route and then back home with some heavy foot along the way. Then check the oiled gauze for particles. Anything you see on the gauze would have been in your engine.

Man I live in WA too, no way I’m just using wire mesh and no filter. Not on a car that sees street use.

Yes, very good points and I got pretty much the same feedback from the Supra forum. I think I will put them back in, I'm actually going to keep this car, lol...
Cheers!

Love that DIY stuff! No need to spend a bunch of money on an intake system, couple of K&N filters and it’s good to go!

Oh, and yes I know it’s now a “hot” air intake…love the sound, don’t track or race the car…

Wasn’t happy with my 1st DIY intake setup so I did it over again. This way looks much cleaner!

How does the Intake sound on the M4 vs the Supra? The single turbo intake spool sounds so nice (very JDM) but it seems like the S58 has difficulty in replicating said sound without going $$$ on the front mount intakes.

Have you encountered any heatsoak with the intake not having a heat shield?

No, I don’t track or race it. I’ll be building a heat shield soon tho, I have a huge piece of thermal barrier…
