Current Markups
Hi All,
Would really appreciate any feedback on current pricing in the DMV area. I almost pulled the trigger on a build with a local dealership. The build had a 4K markup (rear wheel drive competition), MSRP was 76,000. Curious as to know if this is typical for the current time we’re in. I know the wait time have been crazy long and allocations have been sparse. |

All the NoVA dealerships are at MSRP. You just have to wait for your allocation which could take months to a year.
For Maryland, Passport is MSRP, Rockville does a 5ish k markup. |

Thanks for all of the feedback. I’ll have to check out the NOVA dealerships or the Passport one. I went to the one in Silver Spring.

I pulled the trigger last week! Really appreciate all the inputs. Ended up going with BMW of Fairfax - straight msrp and I ended up saving on taxes too . The long wait begins….

You should consider getting on more than 1 list otherwise you'll be waiting forever. |

When I spoke to my sells person he mentioned that there were 5 people in front of me and that I needed to wait until 2023 allocation rolls in before I could be placed in the buyers bank - so I’m waiting in line to get in the actual line, crazy times lol. |

I think SA sees that you are in the market to pay ADM, they will push hard to get the most out of you but if you did your homework, they will likely settle for MSRP or slight above. depends on how you approach SA, think you can get it at MSRP.

No wait on allocation??? :O when did you order? I place an initial deposit with Fairfax on May 18, at the time there was 5 people ahead of me. I checked in yesterday with my sales person and was informed that the dealership only received 1 allocation this month for a base model.

On 2nd try, I returned to my old dealer, Silver Spring BMW; my SA was no longer working, and I had a new SA assigned to me. When I tried negotiating a discount for extra tax buying in Maryland, SA was willing to provide a 2k discount, but they had no current allocation. I was told the next allocation would be mine, but they cannot guarantee when they will get the next one. I debated, called Alexandria, called it super luck, told me they had allocation, and I could take it if I came by the next day. I got to the dealer the next day; no hassle as they said they could do MSRP flat, explaining some of their SA do charge 2-3 k on M at their dealer. No argument made a deposit, signed the contract, and my build was in the following week. Unfortunately, the vehicle arrived at the port in early October due to a missing module. Still, I waited until the last week of December to finally pick up my M. Given the current situation, I think I was super lucky as I've done my due diligence on every little detail to fight against markup, but in the end, nothing was needed. |

I live in MD and was forced to get my allocation out of state. All the MD dealers either had markups or insane waitlists. Started my search in May and contacted 30 or so dealers up and down the east coast searching for MSRP and reasonable waitlist length. Got on four waitlists. Thousands tied up in deposits. Just got my allocation 2 weeks ago.
