Hi all. Recently put down a deposit on a base 6MT M4. It's probably 6-8 months out but more time to decides on the spec.
After briefly considering some more eye catching colors like IOMG, TB, and Dravit, I'm think I'm 99 percent settled on skyscraper! Plan to own the car long term, and it will start out being a daily driver, though I only avg around 5k miles a year since WFH. Still, I want something that will still feel classic in 10 years, be easy to maintain while it's my daily, and fly under the radar while still looking great, and I think SG is the best color option, especially for the price to check those boxes. I was hoping I could get some opinions on some aesthetic choices for optioning out this car. Beyond the practical options like executive pack, parking pack, sports seats with ventilation optioned, I'm thinking: CF exterior package. Expensive. My thoughts are that the front mesh air inlet are my least favorite part of the looks of the car. And while I could live without the other bits and find an aftermarket solution for that one part, it would be 2x more expensive to add them in the future, and I wouldn't have to worry about the fit from the factory. I am not considering black wheels, so I don't care about the other black trim pieces the CF would replace. Wheels: It's between the 825m bicolor, and 826m bicolor. I think my preference is the 825m with red calipers as I think the the shiny/silver parts of them match the chrome badges and chrome tailpipes of the base model However, I thought mrrm3's build with the 826m and black calipers on the base w/ CF package was an incredibly clean build, that I also really love. Interior: I am leaning full fiona red with the carbon fiber trim. I've always liked red anything with CF trim. Red pairs great with SG, and it would match my first choice wheel and caliper combo. My second choice is tartufo, either extended with CF trim (I just don't like it full with CF and it would save some money), or full tartufo, with the open pore black wood trim. I turn 40 later this year, and think I will prefer red in year 3 of ownership but not sure about year 10+. Laser lights, don't need the lasers, but do need those DRL, the base DRL are no bueno for me personally. Anyway, sorry for this stream of consciousness rambling. TL;DR: CF exterior package, thumbs up or thumbs down 825M bicolor vs 826M bicolor on a base model? full red fiona w/ CF vs. extended Tartufo w/ CF vs. full Tartufo with individual open pored black wood P.S. shadowline headlights? worth it? Cheap but have trouble telling the difference. THANK YOU! Got a long 6, maybe more, months ahead! Last edited by BillTheHeel; 07-20-2022 at 01:33 PM.. Reason: forgot one thing |

OEM CF is just about the best, and it's factory warrantied! Maybe you'll save $1K buying all the aftermarket parts, but you'll have to deal with installation.

As far as the plastic headlight trim, I'm not so sure. Between the base model's chrome badges, and the CF exterior package, I will not have much black plastic on the car to match the shadowline. Replacing the black side vent/breathers with OEM CF would be a day 1 mod for me, so then we are just down to the skirts and window trim for black. |

As someone that is doing a similar build but leaning red interior and 825M bicolor wheels instead, I look forward to seeing your completed build, MCM4!!
I am now starting to see how the 826Ms give off a bigger appearance, I guess I just feel like the 825M bicolors match the base chrome badges best. I'm probably overthinking it, but that is an important part for me since those badges are the only thing outside denoting it as a 6MT (AFAIK) which is a big part of why I am getting this car. |

To me Skyscraper Grey feels like the modern James Bond Aston Martin of colours. Looks beautiful. Last edited by Unbuckled2579; 07-21-2022 at 02:01 PM.. |

What color tint did those with Skyscraper go with? I'm currently booked for 20%. I have Silverstone interior though and in the AZ sun I'm thinking 15% might be a better option to make sure the windows stay looking dark.

As someone with an M4 on order, I just keep coming back to this. Most colors for me either fit better on the M3 or don't make a difference, but I feel SSG is made for the 2 door coupe. The James Bond Aston Martin comp is right on. Classy as hell.

Fjord Blue/Black
Hi folks: Did anyone try Fjord Blue/Black with SG? If yes, could you post pics? Or venture an opinion? I'm thinking about it, but unsure.

I came close on this exact configuration. But I was able to see the Fjord Blue color live and did not care for the hue of blue. Broke my heart a bit, because I love blue, and thought it would be unique. But overall, if you like the color shade, it absolutely works fine with SSG.
