Guys, do NOT use regular PPF like XPEL on touchscreens. The adhesive was designed for painted surfaces NOT touchscreens. If you ever removed PPF before you’ll see how strong the adhesive is, imagine removing it from your touchscreen. There is a good chance you’ll ruin the anti-glare coating/finish or worse yet delaminate the screen. ScreenProtech solution is designed specifically for touchscreens.

Just installed the Screen ProTech anti-glare screen protector. It's a fairly straightforward install and quite easy if you put enough soapy solution spray on the film which allows you to position it perfectly and tack it down with the squeegee. No dust nibs at all. It does make the stock anti-glare screen a bit blurrier but not by much, however it drastically reduces fingerprints and does a better job at diffusing reflections compared to the stock screen. I'll see how it is in the daylight and report back.

Overall probably the best screen protector option out there for ID8 screens with real R&D and quality standards behind it which can't be said for cheaper Chinese kits.

Here are some of pictures of it installed. The last picture shows what it looks like with auto brightness at max (shined a light at the light sensor between both LCD panels).

If it rips the idrive 8 screen off the dashboard then it's probably a good thing.

Because ID8 sucks right? Nah, I prefer ID8 over ID7. Screen is huge and beautiful .

Yes, this the anti-glare version. The HD version is super glossy.

That’s cool. I like the HD version a lot but still have an orange peel effect.

Anyone else that installed the gloss version have orange peel?

Well this thread has pivoted to chat about the screen protectors that are now available through protech. When I made the thread I wasn’t aware of that option, hence the idea about putting ppf on the screen.

I ordered both anti-glare and HD. I’m looking at the HD film right now and there is no orange peel at all. I’m thinking the orange peel has to do with the install. To reduce the chance or warpage or orange peel, lay the film down flat, apply lots of solution, wet the top of the film and gently squeegee it out as to not stretch or warp the film.

Yeah I put a lot of solution on it but maybe it needed more. The orange peel became visible after a couple of days. Still not sure if maybe it needs to dry up a bit more maybe?

Here is the Screen Protech anti-glare screen protectors in the daytime. Not as crisp as the bare screen itself but overall not bad. Exceptionally good at reducing fingerprints and it does indeed diffuse glare more than without a screen.

I have the HD - Glossy one and do not have any orange peel.

It might have to do with your installation

I'm taking my car to PPF today and I'm going to ask them if they'll do this! Film is Xpel.

I have the "screen protector" that was on the car when it came still on there currently.

Edit: my PPF place said they don’t do interior screens since it’s a wet application for PPF and they don’t want to risk it.

I’ll likely order a dry application screen protector on eBay and self install when/if somethinf like that is made.

Hey, take a look at the earlier pages in this thread. A few of us have now installed a screen protector that works pretty well.
