There are a few factors at play here and reading some responses, my faith in humanity continues to drop.
The first one is that, surprise surprise, inflation is a real thing! 56000 for a E46 M3 in 2004 is 91000 today! Another is that the E46 M3 did not have a single special option that was expensive. This gives us all several options 1) Act like children and say 'fully loaded' on both models, but include a bunch of options like CCBs, or CF seats on only one of the two models. Then complain when the second one is more expensive 2) Act like slightly more intelligent beings and acknowledge that a comparable G8X is literally cheaper when accounting for inflation -which is the only financially literate thing to do- than the E46, yet has drastically more performance, and be thankful I really wonder how adults still don't know that inflation is real, and also how someone can 'fully load' something with a bunch of exotic options and expect it to cost the same as an ancient car that had none of those options. Guess what, we will get to the point where a base 330i is going to cost over $100k, it's called INFLATION |

$2400 for a lease is crazy. That’s mortgage payment territory…. At least for some people….

It’ll be called the 350i by then. Remember the 320, 323, 325 and 328? With inflation today it’s the 330.

And service has gone to shit and the new entitlement generation think they deserve big tips with little to nothing in return That’s exactly why we now have a house full of chefs, because we’re over it That said I hope BMW enjoys these money making glory days, because nothing lasts forever

Does this confirm that the US isn't getting the Summer 2023 Frozen Pure Grey and Frozen Portimao that was mentioned in a press release a bit back?
https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/globa...or-summer-2023 "The introduction of new exterior colours for current BMW models gives customers additional scope for individualising the exterior of their car. The BMW Individual paint finishes Frozen Pure Grey metallic and Frozen Portimao Blue metallic will be available for the BMW 3 Series Sedan, BMW 2 Series Coupé and high-performance BMW M2 (fuel consumption, combined: 9.8 – 9.6 litres/100 km [28.8 – 29.4 mpg imp]; CO2 emissions, combined: 222 – 218 g/km in the WLTP cycle) from July 2023." Bummer if so. It's already live in the German and Austrian configurators.

Nobody should be surprised by a $3k retail price increase when 15 minutes ago the dealer “market adjustment” proved people will spend way more than last year’s MSRP.

It doesn’t show the rate, but it’s likely the same as the regular finance rate.

I did select financing on my M3 back in November of 2021. My balloon payment at the end of the initial loan term is set for just a little over $37k.

One way of thinking about Select is it's a finance (purchase) option that is structured to look like a lease. You have lower monthly payments over the initial term like a lease, because you are only paying off a portion of the purchase price. At the end of the initial term, you still owe the "residual", which is the balloon payment.
At that point, like chicagofan00 said, you can either pay it off and keep the car, refinance the balloon amount, or sell the car and use the proceeds to (hopefully) pay off the balloon, making up the difference in cash if necessary, or pocketing it if you come out ahead. There is no predetermined "turn in" like with a lease. |
