I am the opposite of most people not a fan of the CF roof. I also wanted a sunroof as I use it all the time. Plus I got an INDV color and wanted the roof to show it. Just my two cents.

Agree wholeheartedly. Having more of the color you love calls for a matching roof and no extended shadowline. I strongly feel that the carbon roof must come with the 180mph package, carbon seats and a CCB kit as a serious racing application. Otherwise, it's just for show. Also, a few people had already expresses displeasure of this undying discussion. Yet it's still alive.

Some people use their car for light track work. Even if you’re not hard-core you must have a helmet to participate in any type of track event. If you are tall you want the extra headroom that the CF roof affords. I have very little room from the top of my helmet to the headliner. It would not fit if I had the sun roof.

I don’t think weight savings has any real merit. If I want weight savings I’ll just lose 50 lbs 😂 This is all about personal preference and how you use your car. There is no absolute right or wrong here.

Imagine walking up to a group of people at a party talking about something between themselves and telling them, "I'm tired of this discussion that I am not involved in so all of you should stop talking about it."

Typically the main reasons for carbon fiber is for rigidity and weight saving but on most cars it is for weight saving and "show". Do mirror covers really need more strength or rigidity?

Ah, I didn't know a helmet was a requirement. In this case, yes, absolutely justified. Losing 50lbs is something all can benefit from. Unless your BMI is already 18.

Exactly right. Yet happens on Reddit all the time. Glad this isn't it.

Mirror covers need all the strength they can get. Especially when you park at the local Costco or come back home from a party.

BMW CF roofs aren't known for their longevity...

I'm only aware of issues with the structural CF roof on the F87 M2 CS (which is the only time they've done it). Have there been widespread problems with ones aside from that?
