Been hearing a lot of talk about DCT not being good enough, or S58 lacking the low-down torque, combined with the extra weight of the G8X etc
This video just proves that the new generation is undoubtedly superior in terms of performance

Yes, the performance difference is more than evident, but the F80 was the base car with the Sunroof.
Not that the F80 competition would make any significant difference, but never the less we need to stay objective, and the language is not Russian |

What makes you say it's the base car? I thought its competition but with the 473M alloys instead of 666M. The M4 badge, M4 side badges, and tailpipes are finished in black (but could also have been an aftermaket change)

as with each new model, its just a little better each time. Its crazy bc where does it stop! Eventually you would think it would level out but so far buckle up these things are getting more and more insane when 98% of the time you wont even be able to use all the performance lol but its knowing you can that matters right

Not looking to start an argument, as I happily concede that the new G80 is a better performer than the F80, but I think people's gripes regarding the DCT vs ZF issue is that the ZF is not as engaging and race car feeling as the DCT. We have a DCT F80CS and an X4M with the ZF (have also driven the G80 and F90 with the new ZF) and while yes it's basically as quick as the DCT, the driver engagement is bit gone and neutered in comparison. Makes it feel a bit less "special". My wife was willing to get over the design of the car to get it for her next car but after finding out the G80 doesn't have the DCT (and has the same type of transmission like her X4M), she is having me looking into getting her an F80 again as a replacement. If transmission doesn't matter to you and you can forgive or even love the design, the G80 seems like a no brainer in terms of performance results.

All Blacked out trim, Badge, Exhaust Tips points to it being a Comp. Yes with moonroof but still a comp.

Just wanted to point out that some obscure channel’s video makes the front page so easily, while the Carwow video with over 1.5m views showing a different result with the F80 vs G80 was never on the front page.
I know, there was the question of whether the F80 in the carwow video was tuned or not but that’s not the point. Because the F80 in this video is clearly not a ZCP, and yet it makes the front page without hesitation since it showed the result they want us to see haha. that being said, I plan on moving on to the G80 in the future from a F80cs, just finding the bias pretty obvious. |

The Carwow video had some serious problems. The Carwow F82 car was 100% confirmed to be not a ZCP and its state of tune was unknown (the owner claimed 500hp on social media, while others thought it just had a burble tune since the presenter said no power was added). Someone even said that the unexpectedly good performance from the F82 possibly came down to tires. This video proves definitively that that 2015 Java Green base car was running far from stock power. The Carwow video is useless for comparing the two generations.

Considering I have an M3CS would love to see both a quarter mile and a half mile run between factory stock M3 CS with euro spec pilot cup 2s on it and a stock G80 comp. CS cars with drivers package have some serious long legs.

Both cars have more power than they can put down. The gap will never be that big until you get all wheel drive launches. The traction limitations of both cars will likely make the rear drive G8x feel a bit better, but not a crazy jump more, than an F8X.

I mean BMW is not going to produce a next gen car the same speed as the last. I think it is safe to say the G80 is faster and a better performer.
That said in my opinion the f80 just looks more sexy. it looks more proportioned and more hunkered down and more muscular, at least in the video. The G80 looks more like a GT because of its size. Still like the old grilles better. |
