EU M4 Radiator Stone Guards on US M3 xDrive?

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
So I am looking to add the more open M3 CS style front grill to my US Spec xDrive M3, but am worried about protecting the grills.

I saw there are stone guards available for the M4 and am wondering if anyone has fitted these to an M3 or if they would work for my application? (pictures would be awesome)

This would be:
#3 Stone Guard - BMW (17-11-9-882-365)
#4 Stone Guard OEM 17-11-9-882-366

Alternatively (or in addition to) has anyone found some mesh that will fit the back side of the CS Grill? Perhaps that might be another option...am more worried about the lower than the upper....

I ordered one, it doesn't exactly fit well but it works. I just ziptied it in place.

It doesn’t sit perfectly flat but you can’t really tell. If I spent more time I could maybe have zip tied it a little better to have it lay flatter but it does the job and looks fine so didn’t seem worth the effort.

Uhm..... Just went out to the garage and noticed that my upper radiator actually already appears to have a screen in front, but the bottom does not..... very strange that the factory protects the upper and not the lower....

Thanks for the photos, I appreciate that. Yeah, it looks fine in the photos so I will likely do that as well.

That stone guard is for the manual g80's, that's why it doesn't fit properly on the auto's.

Garage List
Think the openings are kind of big. A farm supply should have some fencing of pen stock that could be cut to fit.

I made this stone guard out of Nomex honeycomb sheet sprayed black. 10 years old now & no radiator damage.

That's a pretty novel solution.

Presently I'm researching the McMasters for something similar to C5-Z06 screen material but painted black...

OEM Z06 screens is:

Material Type Stainless Steel
Stainless Steel Type Type 304
Shape Sheets
Form Woven Wire Cloth
Mesh Size Range Coarse Mesh
Mesh Size (Coarse) 5 x 5
Square/Rectangle Size .159"
Wire Diameter .041"
Percentage of Open Area Range 60 - 69
Percentage of Open Area 63.2
