Just another thought on C&D times. I'm pretty sure they correct for ideal conditions. A car might run (make up numbers) 3.0, but then they estimate/calculate what that time would be under ideal temp, pressure, humidity, etc. That corrected time is what they publish (like 2.7. Then 2.4 with rollout). They explain this, or at least use to, in the fine print of their instrumented tests. They also post what the "ideal conditions" are that they correct for. That means the C&D times are best case theoretical.
I've also heard/read from tuners that this doesn't really correlate to how modern turbo engines are managed. Something about the ECU does some correction based on conditions, so applying additional correction could be bogus. Any way, regardless, the car is crazy fast. Edit. Found the fine print: "All of our straight-line acceleration results are the average of the best run in opposite directions, to account for wind. Ambient weather conditions—we record absolute barometric pressure and wet- and dry-bulb temperatures trackside—determine how much power an engine makes. Because of that, we also correct acceleration results to 60 degrees Fahrenheit at sea level. Cooler air is denser and contains more oxygen, allowing the engine to burn more fuel and make more power. Similarly, high barometric pressure produces more power than low pressure, and dry air has more oxygen than moist air. All of our standing-start acceleration times also include rollout, a short period of time (typically about 0.3 second) that we subtract from the acceleration figures. It's a phenomenon that stems from the physics of the timing lights at a drag strip, where a car can be rolling for 12 inches or more before the clock starts. We recently changed our procedure to now use the industry standard 1-foot rollout."

Yea. I scared myself the first time I tried launch control with my M3 CS right after break in. Rear wheels lit up, car quickly threw itself sideways into the next lane, but I stayed in it while correcting to my lane then I lifted ( out of fear) at exact same time the DCT was hammering 2nd gear thus making this horrendous clunk in the rear end. Sounded like somebody had hit it with a sledgehammer. Thought I had broke something for sure. Never used it again.

In the Z06, a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 produces 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, slashing 0-60 mph time to a blazing 2.95 seconds (3.2 with the manual gearbox).
And nurburgring 7:13 And launch control is under warranty as many times as you want to do it. BUT, that being said, I'm considering an M4 xdrive because I'm struggling to have to leave the Z06 parked in the winter/cold months.... I've had numerous Vettes since 2004 and numerous X5's since 2001, just doing what every car guy does when he has a few minutes and thinking about "what's next?!"

As for selling it…. ….under only ONE condition: a 992 GT3 at MSRP (…which is a pipe dream of wishful thinking). I waited a year for this car; my allocation was from April 2021 when I sold my F82 and canceled my G8X allocation. I purchased my 992 C2S under MSRP in this crazy market due to a dealership connect. To own a 911 was a desire I've had ever since 2005-ish. No way would I sell this car for any other reason than a GT3 or a Sport Classic (…the latter being even more of a pipe dream than the former). |

i'm a rear wheel front engine fan, not that i dislike mid-engine, i just prefer front engine rear wheel or awd
The C8 Z06 is going to be a beast, no doubt about it.
