Good point - unless the batteries catch fire or fail prematurely.

Absolutely the first thing I thought too.

I've never really seen a regional chart like that. I was fully expecting to see this Asian powerhouse figure 70% and the ROW mopping up?

How does the biggest M market not get the M3 touring, at least we get the non comp M3/4 versions.

Because we aren’t a wagon market like Europe. Take rates here is in the toilet every time a Touring is available. I don’t blame them for not bringing it over on a bimmerpost poll.

I would think the manual take rate would be higher. That's the biggest selling point of this car, IMO. Manual RWD for $70k.

For those that want this car in an automatic and aren't planning on tracking, why get an M3/M4 for $70/80k? So many other options available at that price point.

1. There's extremely-small opportunity for wagon sales in the US.

2. Industry ambitions are focused on BEVs.

M is the only & correct option at that price point.

Either that or you fork up for a P-Car.

Regardless of manual or auto.

No other vehicle gives you the performance, everyday drivability, & dual purpose ness of an M3/M4.

Just my opinion of course . Yes there's Vettes, Mustangs, Alfa Romeos, & C' AMG .

But overall package , I think BMW does it the best.

I agree that BEVs are the bigger factor that will impact G8x sales.

But do not think for a second that a Tesla depreciates slower than a BMW. I learned that the hard way. A Model S depreciates exactly like any other luxury vehicle, and probably worse. If anything, the G8x will not depreciate as badly because it's the last of its kind.

That moment when you find out American tastes is why the car looks the way it does. You guys have some soul searching to do now.

Large prominent front end design is a part of mainstream car market demand in North America. It's only the tiny shoe box of traditionalists that cannot accept it.
Exactly. The aggressive over the top grilles are for USA market. The fact that people get butthurt on this very forum when you say it looks ugly confirms this message - the car's design is meant for USA first and foremost, for the generation that gobbles up fast and furious films and has huge car tuner culture. Some small minority likes to have these wolf in sheep's clothing aka Europe approach, but even look at this forum - all the SoCal culture stanced cars, diffusors and lips, etc. I think BMW knows its market pretty well. It's just shocking to some people. Im also surprised this car is de facto US-special.

Many options for equally performing AWD four door sedans? I think so not...

Mostly because the USA is an SUV market and BMW builds those right here.

Damn, all that mimimi in this Community is out of Control.

I am an absolute BMW Fanboy, but here is a List of BMW's wich I think are ugly AF:
Z1
E36 compact
E46 compact
E65 (both LCI and pre LCI)
E63 6 series
First Gen Z4
First gen X3 (don't even know the model code)
E90 (especially the pre LCI)
F3x/F8x (especially its low budget looking crappy interior, still love the f8x exterior)

They still have sold well and exceeded the predecessors sales with eas (if there was one and not valid for the e46 compact )

So let's stop pretending that BMW always made the most beautiful vehicles for everyone!
I love BMW for making charismatic cars mostly with outstanding performance (for their segment) and long and meaningful heritage.

At the end it's all a question of taste, I love the new M3 and M4 (among many others, you can ask them here on the G8x forum). Damn, If I wouldn't have ordered the M5C or without this COVID-19 pandemic, I would have been one of the 12% in Germany

Pretty sad but very reflective of current market demand and on-going power wars between manufacturers.

Twin-turbo AWD with a slush-o-matic is what's selling.

41% of the M3 sedan and M4 coupe market and we can't have the M3 wagon. That's a shame.
