Window not rolling down at door open?

Anyone know what part goes bad when the window doesn't roll down that I ch to open and close the door? I don't want to blow out the window when closing. Dealer keeps saying it doesn't do it for us. I'd expect a little more brain power from the dealer.

There is a way to reset the windows.

Check this video:

Not sure if it still the same for G, but worth a try.

But your dealer either doesn't know a thing about the products he is selling or just don't want to bother to help you….

I think your dealer was right...lol.

My 22 M3 doesnt do that. But my 911 did. Im pretty sure BMW uses the two vents in the rear fenders/trunk are that let air out, but not in for pressure.

Ohhh…forgot to ask, you have a M3 or M4??

Only frameless windows do that, the M3 obviously has frames, so no need to put the windows down a bit…

Yes. It's an M4 so the window needs to drop to clear the molding. It seems to work half the time. I have done the reset several times and didn't help.

Then you need some check by your dealer…overall software update may already help or ECU re-flash as clearly something is wrong if not working all the time.
I would change dealer if he refuses to check that or reach out to BMW and complain about your dealer…

I will give them another shot as they still have to change out my seat cover that has the wrong trim color. Must be software or door handle/lock sensors. You might be right with a re-flash.

Was there any resolution to this? I just got my M4 last month and it started doing this about a week ago. I've noticed it several times now where it doesn't move and bends the window out when you close it against the weather stripping.

Additionally when it happens the switch won't budge it up or down, whether the car's running or just on. Lastly, I've had it freeze a couple times where I've been driving with the window down, went to roll it up, and it got stuck halfway up and just stopped. Couldn't roll it back down or up until I got to my house and parked. After parking and walking away / locking / walking back / unlocking / starting it sometimes works again, which is the usual fix, but sometimes it just stays stuck and I leave it for 30-60 minutes and then it works again.

Update: dealer found a faulty part, ordered new one, part's taking a while to get in. I've had a loaner since Monday and they're hoping to have my car back to me this coming Monday. Will keep you guys posted with the part # and whatnot once I get the paperwork back.

My 23 M4 started doing this too. Window reset as in the video didn't help. I wonder if it's just a coincidence or bimmercode f'd it up.

update: the dealer just recalibrated the window through their scanner thing and it's all good now
