Couldn't be happier, it's very very good as a daily. However, I might advice you to get the normal seats as a daily. Ingress and Egress can be a PITA with the CB. Altough once you're in they are pretty comfy. I drove 600km at one piece without any issues in the CB. But regarding the seats it's best to test sit both if you can. Riding quality I can't compare with an F80, I never had one. But it's good...to be fair our streets may are one of the bests in the world |

Mid-60s here, have owned dozens of BMWs over the years, plus driven dozens more in recent years. Went from F22 M235i to G05 X5 to G82 Comp xDrive.
F22 ride was busy on all but perfectly smooth roads, whereas G82 is firm, not harsh, and not busy. It's been my daily for over a year and 15,000 miles. Local roads/streets are dichotomy of fresh pavement and beat-to-hell. If you want a smoother ride and can compromise on ultimate performance, M340/M440 is a great alternative. |

Another vote for the G8x being a fine mix of performance and comfort. I had an F87C, not an F80, and the transition was significant, though not night and day. The F87C did beat me up a bit.
The base seats are the best BMW seats that I've had. They're almost as comfortable as the "luxury seating package" seats in my SO's 530e, and are much better at holding you in place. Compared to my F87C seats, they ARE night and day. I'm in my early 50s and I have days when sitting down into the car isn't the happiest experience due to some old injuries...but once I'm in, I'm happy. Stay away from Sport+ on the suspension on poor roads and I don't think you'll be beat up at all. |

These are great feedback thank you.
The comp I had was really extreme looking back. And the super low profile 20’s definitely contributed to that. No I just need to find a base with regular seats and 18/19s. Which again has proven difficult to find to test drive. Everything out there are comps with big wheels. |

Few dealers will let you test drive a new M car, especially these days when so few are in inventory. I had to buy my first one without a test drive, based largely on a friend's recommendation. I had no regrets. Finding one with the tiny wheels is even tougher. Finding one with tiny wheels and the correct number of pedals is even tougher, but I did find one in December when I was shopping. It was a stripper with no executive package, so I took a pass on it. I would prefer the smaller wheels for comfort, but the larger ones look fabulous, and it will really hurt you at resale time.

I'm 53. I had a f80, then went to a m340i, and now have a g80. The m340i had the most comfortable ride, but of course, not as exciting as the f80 nor g80. Although, it was a good all-around car.
I feel that the f80 was much harsher than the g80. While they both have harsh rides, the g80 seems to soak up bumps, better. Plus, the g80 is more comfortable (I have standard seats) than the f80. The tech and dash layout is much better, as well. You should definitely expect some harshness from a g80, but not as jarring as the f80. |

I have had 2 F80's and now have a G80 Comp Xdrive. I found the F80 to be fine for long road trips and did multiple 8+ hour trips in it. I found the F80 comp to be more comfortable F80 with the more supportive seats.
I have yet to drive more than 3-4 hours in the G80, but for around town and commuting, I find it more comfortable than either F80 version. I typically drive in S+ for all settings and don't think it is too harsh, even on rougher New England roads. I would like a little more support in the seats, but that is a very minor nit pick. |

I'm in your shoes OP and my fun cars are all manual, not the easiest thing to get in and out of and def on the stiffer side for DD, etc. But I figured with ICE dying off and I prob only got 20 good years left to enjoy rowing the gears, I just gravitate towards driving exp more than comfort. With that said newer gen cars become more DD friendly and more compliant over rough pavements. I don't think you got much to worry about if you're used to F80 platform.

I'm in my mid-40's and I daylied a F80 M3 a few years ago. I then had a M3 CS as a weekend car which I took on road trips.
I don't commute anymore, but i've taken my G82 on longer drives and I find the sport seats in the G82 to be slightly more comfortable than the M3 regular and competition seats in my M3 CS. As far as harshness of the suspension, they are about the same. What is it about the F80 that's too harsh? I commuted in one for 3 years 12k miles a year and it seemed fine to me. Do you have back issues?

38 here. "Old" is relative. My back and knees are so bad that I feel older than I am. I wanted something comfier. I drove a Boxster GTS 4.0 with the 18-ways, and it was just a bit too racecar for me. I'm in line for a 911 with 18-ways whenever my allocation comes.
The base seats in the competition are fine, albeit a bit too narrow for me. I end up sitting on the bolster a lot, and I'm not that out of shape. I wish they were a touch wider. |

I’m late 40’s and I find the M cars to be more comfortable than the non-M BMW’s because the seats are far better quality (except for the 7 series). I have had recent 3/5/X5 loaners and my G82 is more comfortable than all of them. If you live in an area with bad roads, setting the suspension to comfort smooths out all of the road imperfections nicely. You can’t do better than a M3/4/5 or X5M/X6M as a daily driver. I’ve been daily driving these cars for the last 20 years and won’t get anything else.

I am 65 and went from a M2C to G80 due to the need for a more comfortable car for long road trips. Absolutely loved the M2C but 2 trips from Richmond VA and NYC home took an extra 2 1/2 hours getting up through DC on I95 and forever to get across the George Washington bridge. The M2C had a manual trans which was A PITA in stop and go traffic . The G80 is much more comfortable than the M2C on 10+ hour rides and a tad quicker. LOL.

Granted, my pace has slowed down over the years, but I still do 4 miles a day/four days a week at a 15 minute pace. Started running May 1, 1979 and unlike Forrest Gump, I've never quit. Call me old if you want, I don't give a shit. Not old, I'm just a 20 year old trapped in this 75 yr old body! |

Great car that can be rough when you want, but also drive like a standard 3/4 series when you prefer. |

I am near 50 and daily an M2 Comp. If I can handle THAT, you can handle a G80/82!

Also the bottom seat cushion was so thin I could constantly hit the bottom of it on bumps. |
