There’s a little digital hollow M logo on the display. You’d think it would turn red or blue or do SOMETHING when you enable M modes, etc - but it does nothing. It’s just statically sitting there useless.

Anyone know what the point is for this dash logo? I wish it changed based on something 🤣

I am aware I’m in an M vehicle based on the 27 other logos.

Not sure… just in case you get confused whether you are in your M car or your wife’s 530?

Don't complain - It's free - unlike the shifter panel logo which you have to buy separate and install yourself if you want it.

This is the only M logo you're complaining about? Not the 1000 other ones around the car?

Would you rather have what iD7 has and show you a giant "///M3" in your cluster the entire time?

As for the dashes, you're still on 03/2023. They fixed those showing up as dashes in 07/2023, it's for the M Drive Professional TC number setting. It shows up there when you have it activated.

That wasn’t my car. Mine is a 2024 I just grabbed that image to show what I was referring to.

Just seems pointless to put a logo somewhere it could be interactive then leave it static. Would be a perfect and simply little detail to have it fill in with M colors when you press either of the M1/M2 buttons.

The other M logos on the car are physical.

True. And I did that because 27 logos wasn’t enough.

^^OP, this is the answer. There has been an M logo on all M-car IPs since the beginning of M-cars. What you're commenting on is just a digital representation of an M-car tradition. It really isn't some sort of design travesty, or even an issue of any kind.

The "---" was mistakenly shown on our idrive 8 cars that did not have the M Drive Professional option. This would show the #/10 stage of traction control when selected. The 2023.53 (or whatever the most recent one was) update removes this from the gauge cluster.

This. It's a nod to all the other generations that never did anything but light up.

Quick PS job below:

I cannot believe there is a thread on such a minuscule matter. We must be running out of important matters to discuss.

Well I guess I could post asking about which spacers people use and whether or not my mod voids the warranty.

Agreed, that would be better.

Actually that would be more interesting. Which begs the question... What is the reason for putting spacers on the car??? The car seems vulnerable to stone chips because of the wide tires from the factory. It has to be worse with the spacers. Does an inch wider stance make that much difference - and is that the reason? Seems like it would put more strain on the wheel bearings. Not knocking it but just curious.

May as well sidetrack the thread to something more interesting.

It’s just something to do while we wait for BMW to program in a color change for the dashboard static M logo.

They’re currently working on the legal paperwork to be able to charge for this option. 😝
