07/2023.53 is worst update...

Hi guys, I did the recent update on my 23 m3cx. I didnt saw anything in update log related to exhaust flaps.. Anyways I do like sometimes do cold/hot start with sport+(m1) to somewhat open exhaust flaps more. However they removed this, sport+ sounds like comfort on hot or cold start and you need to drive like 2mins so the sport+ would open flaps more. It kinda sucks that they do that even on hot start when car was off for just 2-3mins. I dont remember month of previous software version but it was xx/2023.50 I did that update in summer and it was all good.

I think it would be hard to downgrade software, but maybe is there a chance to fix that with esys? Im not interested in flaps controller very much, unless thay would be last resort.

Also just today saw first time that somehow laserlights started to fog up, not sure is it related to software update, but it might be partially related as they are kinda advanced and ecu controls them. Last year winter was all good.

Edit: fog disapeared after an hour in heated garage, so maybe its not software related, but still I think thay software and laser power levels can affect this issue.

This did not happen to me with that update. If I turn on sport+ during cold start it’s pretty loud.

Do you have 07/2023.53? I did reset idrive, as one of guys said that after this update 360 cam was glitchy and it fixed the issue. Ill try tomorrow and see if the reset fixed the flaps.

I had no issues hitting M1 before starting up for a louder start on 07/2023.53 and I still don't on 11/2023.

English is not my primary language, so maybe I didnt properly explained the issue with proper words.. Anyways why are you confused?

Pros of update. Ive noticed that with 8th gear at 80mph it builds boost faster so no need to downshift to 7th on highway most of times. Also if m1 m2 buttons have mdm or tc off dont need to wait 2 secs. So couple good things. Ive driven 60 miles with new update, but the flap things pissed me off

Sorry for double post. If you guys dont have that issue, probably I had a glitch after update. I did reset idrive power/volume down for 30 secs. I hope it did fixed the issue, ill try tomorrow and let you know about the flaps. Thanks for confirming that yours flaps are working all good

Laser cooling/power is controlled by software, and it happened right after update, never had that issue before so I dont think it was coincidence. And I dont use Iphone lol..

Anyways the reset fixed the issue regarding the flaps so software got glitched after update. Probably it would be good thing to do idrive reset after software updates if someone will have funny issues.

This guy had also issues after update 2023.53 where reset fixed it https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2062430

I don’t think rebooting idrive has anything to do with exhaust flaps which are controlled by DME. What u saying makes no sense.

The amount of owners who think iDrive is their ECU is fascinating.

So there's a quirk here. If you hit M1 or M2 BEFORE you start it, it's normal loud. But if you start it then try to hit those, it lags then goes loud after a minute or so.

Noticed this after the update.

Well idrive display/cluster unit technically is ecu as it has its own source address on canbus its not the engine control module(ecm)/dme tho, Ive never said so..

I think this volume down/power reset doesnt just reset instrument cluster, but the dme and some other ecu's aswell. It fixed the issue with flaps most likely. Or maybe it just needed to sit in garage for 1 more night which is unlikely

Yes, BMW changed the software to make the headlights fog up. It's a new feature. BMW calls it "frozen headlights".

I noticed a change too with the flaps after the update as well this past weekend. (Just updated to 07/2023.53)

I’ll try the reset as well and see if that changes anything.
