I admit, I didn’t recall that the remote start was part of the executive package. As I posted earlier, I would have ordered remote start and heated steering wheel as a stand alone options. I did not want the unused HUD contraption on my dash surface. I did not use the HUD on my Chevy SS, before I got the M2C. Again, when I went looking to enable remote start on a $90,000 car, I was surprised (disappointed) to see BMW want $330. I certainly can afford it, as I finally reached a point in my life, at 60, where I could buy a nice car without a loan. It’s not about the money on a car like this. Again, the ventilated seats are a stand alone option, why not the remote start and heated steering wheel? Maybe BMW can learn something here by owners complaining on this G80 forum! If nobody complained, this place would be less entertaining, for sure. |

But then again, we get screwed by not being able to single add laser lights. Lasers are only available through a bundle of 9 other items for 7800 CAD. But another plus we can order the sport cup 2 tires track package cheap. |

available in the connected drive store as a standalone option after the car is built if you want it. Otherwise, you spring for the executive package when ordering the car to get it. Don't understand the complaint.

I suppose, in the end, I’m complaining it wasn’t a stand alone option upon ordering the car!
Hello! Wish I hadn’t posted it! Hope you do too! Didn’t realize so many people would get their damn underwear all bunched up over it! Good grief! I do appreciate the actual contributions to the thread though. Well there you go, you say what’s on your mind and it brings out the negative ninnies like flies in a dumpster. You know who you are! Which migrated to a complaint about not being a stand alone option when ordering the car. Which doesn’t make sense because it’s available as a stand alone option post delivery. Now you are saying us on the forum have our underwear bunched up when it really was you with your underwear bunched up over $330… Hey, it’s ok, but at least own it. |

Is the fact that it isn’t on the Monroney sticker the problem here?

Love my HUD, I’ve spent so much time driving my G81 the past few months that it was strange jumping in my Land Cruiser 300 without it!
Also HUD works pretty well with my polarised Maui Jims |

Lack of remote start on my 6MT kills me. The fact that activating pre-ventilation from the app doesn't turn on the windshield defrosters, heated seats/wheel, or heat in general only adds insult to injury.
If I'm wrong, can someone please DM me the steps to make these things work? I've read the manual. TIA. |

No manual ever had remote start due to the fact that some people make it a habit of putting the cars in a drive gear and leaving it while parked instead of in neutral and parking brake engaged. It’s a safety thing. Back in the day you could throw in a Viper alarm on a manual and just short out the clutch switch connection for the alarm and do remote start, but god help you if you left your shit in gear and tried to remote start it. Your car will lose that fight with whatever is in front of it when that happens. Lol

I leave my car in 1st when parked, I get it. But its such a nonsensical excuse. This car is so advanced compared to cars in the past, and it uses sensors to detect where the shift lever is and what gear the car is in. It is totally feasible for them to allow remote start if parking brake is engaged and car is in neutral. Hell, they could even use the parking sensors to make sure there is sufficient space around the vehicle. If it was in a gear then remote start would be disabled. Not hard from a hardware/software standpoint so it must be a legality issue.

^^^^ Correct. It’s a liability they’d have to deal with in terms of the coded checks and balances for the remote start logic. A risk they don’t want to deal with.
Remember a few years back when some car manufacturers had designed new models to automatically park themselves (auto trans) when/if it was still in gear and the driver got out. Or the other option of locking the brake down so it wouldn’t roll. At least one person got hurt with that and it put a stop to that silliness. |

Here’s the other thing with remote start. Imagine this and this has actually happened… the dude was changing his oil and had his keys in his pocket. Oil draining and he left it and walked in the house from the garage to wait on that and do something. Sat down and somehow (as we’ve all done at some point) a key pressed against the stupid button combo to remote start the car. Came out to find engine running without oil in it. I have never had a car that had remote start capabilities, but I would never use it and if at all possible would even disable or code it out. I get it, some live in cold climates and want a warm car when they come out, but I guess maybe I’m just that type of person who’s so much into my cars that I like getting in and starting them… listening to the startup to see if it was the same as before or if some new wacky sound or behavior is happening. If I have to sit there and wait on a defrost, then I do so. I guess I’ve not ever thought of my cars as just transportation and a machine slave to warm and massage my butt because I’m being inconvenienced by having to drive it somewhere. Lol But hey, I’m also the guy who will jump in the car and just take a drive to relax. 🤷*♂️

I have polarized Maui Jim's and can view the HUD quite well. A bit dim, but tinting the windshield helped even more.
