The more time people spend looking out the windshield (instead of at the dash) the safer we all are!

I added the exec package,
now I dig the auto open/close trunk and the HUD is helpful.

Still don’t understand the auto trunk in a car. I get it in an SUV but are our trunks really that hard to close? 🤷‍♂️

Not that I care about huds or not, but you don’t need to stare at the dash to be able to drive. Lol Hell, even speed measurement isn’t needed, just gauge around you if you’re in traffic. Occasional glances for something isn’t enough to cause issues. Problem is the people who can’t drive, those who feel the need to look down at the dash until they reach the speed limit and then look up. I’ve seen some stupid shit from some individuals who shouldn’t be driving at all. I don’t understand how those kinds of people function doing anything else in life. It’s almost like they don’t have the ability to do things by feel or something. You gotta be in tune with stuff… I don’t know how to explain it.

I don’t know. I used to be able to multitask while driving but as I have gotten older I find it more difficult to do anything but focus on the road.

$300 to have an OEM remote start is actually an amazing deal. Remember what you had to go through 10 (hell even 5) years ago and the cost?

May be BMW should follow what Mercedes does. They called their packages with fancy name like Night package, Intelligent Drive package..... At least you think you pay for something special.

I remember my first Honda Civic (30+ years ago) Right hand side mirror is optional and it cost more than $300 from the dealer.

I initially thought it was dumb but find the feature super useful. For example, open when walking up (generally using the fob, else the hand button on the outside), close with button on trunk or turn and leave and hit the key fob button. Really, use it just like an SUV.

I use the inside door button to open all the time and occasionally to close the truck.

Do you have it?

If someone cannot monitor the vehicle speed using the dash gauges without reducing their overall safety level, they shouldn’t be driving. They shouldn’t even leave their house…

Yes, mine has it. The only options I don’t have are CF seats, sunroof, neck warmers, and the center exhaust.

No, but the ability to open AND close via the remote (and BimmerCode) is especially handy. Also, being able to close the trunk with the button in the door without getting out of the car in the rain is a nice feature.

Each to their own, but it definitely is not (only) about vehicle speed.
Here are a few reasons I would never consider another vehicle without a HUD (in no particular order).
Having the following permanently in line of sight, I think is very valuable as there is minimal chance of missing it with adverse consequences (ranging from a missed shift to a speeding fine!):
  • Speed limit reduction
  • Speed camera warning
  • Red light camera warning
  • Rough road ahead warning
  • Navigation (I don’t have voice on for nav)
  • Tacho warning
It would also be good to have the g-meter in the HUD… pretty risky having to look down while exploring the lateral g capabilities!

If you’ve had a black car without the auto closing trunk, you’ll notice how all those hand prints on a dirty car leave tons of scratches in the paint that you have to polish out. I like just clicking the button and walking away personally..

but sure, ok you don’t want all the exec options. but to complain about $300 option you do want on a 90k plus car seems a bit of a head scratcher to me. You saved $1800 on not getting the exec package. Build the car the way you want it and pay the price.

Push/swing down from the license plate and you won’t have that issue.

The two seconds that you glance down at the dash or info display (if you are navigating) can be the two seconds when some kid dashes out in front of your car. There is a lot of different information displayed in the HUD not just 'speed'.

I agree there is a lot of incompetent drivers on the road so I am a extremely defensive driver. That means every couple seconds that my eyes are inside the car I am not looking outside to prevent an accident with a stupid driver or someone who is looking at their dash at the wrong split second I am at risk.

I believe the neck warmer is just for the convertible.
