Funny that we will spend upwards of 100k on a car then worry about a $330 remote start😉

I would have selected the remote start feature for $330 when I built the car, if it was there, just like I selected the ventilated seats!

It seemed reasonable at the time that this feature would be standard, since it wasn’t an option to select on the build.

I would have selected heated steering wheel for $330 if it was a stand alone option, but didn’t want the other executive package items.

It was disappointing and dissatisfying (not extremely I must admit) to find the extra charge in the BMW app, when I was just looking to activate the damn feature.

Surprise! WTH

It’s more principal than anything else. When BMW decided to put in all options on a car and then nickel and dime you to death to get CarPlay and other options “enabled”, a lot of people thought it was just a slap in the face. It’s not costing them more to install a new module in the car and it wasn’t a chargeable option before in some cases, but because some bean counter up top thought it would be a good idea to make more money by simply charging to enable things via software, that’s when it’s a problem. I get both sides of this, but it just feels like a dry fu** just to make more money on an already expensive car.

The HUD is the best part of the Exec pkg, can’t imagine driving a car without one (turned down a smoking deal on a Giulia QF mainly because of not having one). The remote start and the power trunk is a bonus, IMO.

Remote engine start is included in the executive package, but if you don't check that box (or get one off the lot that doesn't have it), you can add it to the car after purchase. So not sure how this hurts anyone?

Came here to say this! BMW ain't so bad, yet. At some point in the future it will be $330/yr for remote start.

Can open and close trunk myself, don’t want HUD in my car, using it at work is enough. But for $1700 I could have had a heated wheel and remote start, huh.

The alternative is the Porsche model. You can have everything you want, exactly as you want. Just please, sir, keep shoveling the money in. DAP on the M3 is $1,700. On the Cayenne, the same (inferior) system is $2,700. On the M3, the HUD comes as part of the $1,700 Exec pack. On the Cayenne, the HUD alone is $1,450. The heated wheel is $280. There is no remote start. Of course, power trunk is standard as it's an SUV.

Lasers on the BMW are $1,000. Adaptive Matrix on the Porsche are $1,750. If you want them in black that's another $580, not $300.

You get the idea.

Agree. BMW seems to be somewhere in the middle (relative to other manufacturers) in terms of packaging options. Porsche also packages options but provides a lot more stand alone options and makes a lot of money doing so.

Oh, I turned off my HUD…

Count me in there - I can't stand HUD and it was more of a nuisance and blocked my view. I barely noticed it was there. Having a nice digital display and then HUD is IMO overkill and the HUD simply wasnt very good in the first place.
