Those of you who have replaced your brake pads on a G8X. Do you always replace the one time nuts with new ones? Part number 34112284399 x quantity of 4
How imparative is it to do so? |

I've heard of torque to yield bolts/studs... but one time use nuts? If the nut is being replaced why not the stud?
You can try to find the nut yourself, its simply a m12x1.5 flanged nut with a 10.9 grade hardness, but its hot dipped galvanized i believe so not exactly easy to find. The amount the dealer wants for this is.... nuts. I reused mine.

According to the offical procedures per BMW TIS, nearly every bolt and nut torqued to more than 10nm on the entire car is marked as “renew”. Took your exhaust brace off? That will be 6 new bolts, per BMW. It’s a bit ridiculous really.

What’s the worse that could happen.. caliper falls off? That would of course be catastrophic.. but what are those chances? If torqued correctly and inspected every so often is that sufficient enough?

It actually can't fall off because to take it off you pull it off to the side and it needs to clear the rotors... thankfully the wheels will block it from ever doing that

I did not. I just retorqued everything down to spec and got on with it. Same with the exhaust brace when I replaced my midpipe.

Reused and immediately had a track day. No issues.
