Is the M4 CSL just a CS? It says the M3 CS production starts later. Does that mean there is no M4 CS, just the M3? If so I expect M4 CSL will be in name only.

I think price is going to play a big factor on this car. With Chevy pushing back the C8 Z06, i'm assuming both of these cars will come out around the same time, early 23. If that's the case, will the Z take this car's thunder? Will there be a new Porsche GT car around the same price? What about the bizarro 4-banger C63 model, will there be a Black Series?

I hope more details come out. Hopefully its not just bunch of CF parts for show. Should come with AC delete, no radio, thinner windows, carpet and rear seats removed with option for a cage. Doesn’t look promising given manual is not available.

LOL, that's hardcore, Robert No A/C????? Carpet removed????? Yeah, don't expect this level of "hard core".

No matter how thin the windows, or how much less carpet and sound deadening, and even with seat removal, this car is still going to be fairly heavy. So if you're really looking for a lighter, more tossable platform, just start with a purpose-built sports car: get a Cayman. Or even a Vette. Expecting BMW to remove a bunch of stuff from a 3-series for the 50 of you crazy enough to buy a A/C-, radio- and backseat-less M car and sell it to the masses is just crazy.

How many people really want an M car without A/C or a radio, track-only specials? Come on, man...

Digging the visual changes. Grille is a mega improvement by simply changing up the slats in this way.

Rear spoiler also looks killer. Hard to tell if the hood has more pronounced contours/venting or not.

I was really hoping for front and rear fender extensions, larger diameter wheels and tighter fender gaps to set the car apart visually. They could give it some serious road presence if they wanted to.

I do not really like the G80C design aesthetics, including the front grille . . . nor do not care about the design. I bought the G80C to experience the ///M car icon and, to date, it has exceeded all my interests toward being the ultimate driving machine.

From what I can see, and presuming the car photo’d is the CSL, the front grille represents an improvement to ME.

Moving from the F87C to the G80C, my intent was to move into the G87C in 2023. However, at current, I am not so inclined toward the G87. I am quite certain the G87 will be a fantastic encore to the F87C, nonetheless, a step down from the G80C in terms of overall performance. Not sure I could accept a detuned S58 at this point?

Again, I do not care how the G87 ‘looks’ compared to the G80C . . . and I suspect the G87 design architecture will be quite good.

I suspect the G80/82 CSL will be a bit too track-focused for my spirited daily driving needs and interests. Unless I am wrong, the CSL models typically come with a large rear ‘wing’ and without a back seat? One or both of those factors alone represent a deal breaker for me.

Instead, my focus moving forward will be on the G80CS. The problem I face is I do not typically keep my vehicles that long and 2024 is a long way off. The one caveat is that I truly believe the G80C is the ultimate driving machine and MIGHT keep my interest for another three years???

I guess that will be determined with the G87 release, which MIGHT serve as interlude between G80C and G80CS . . . at this point I doubt it.

In reflection, after reading your comments, don't discount the 87. I have a Godly F87CS and can tell you it hands down bends the F80C over and kicks it's butt

Also, admittedly I don't know all BMW models so I might be wrong here, but I have never seen a CSL without the back seats ever since the 3.0 CSL (not the street versions anyway)

After seeing and experiencing to some degree what BMW did with the new G series, all new BMW M cars interest me !

I was comparing some of my track times and realized my M340i is way easier to drive and extract performance than my M2 ever was even after 3 suspension revisions, M2C strut brace and a big brake kit.

I can't imagine what a G82 CSL will feel like but it's going to me impressive for sure.

I do not discount the F87C, and the fabulous S55 . . . I enjoyed the heck out of mine.

What I am stating is that BMW engineers took the G80C to the next level in terms of performance. Lots of moving parts that come together and equate to what I truly feel is an ultimate driving machine . . . not the least of which is the S58. An absolute beast.

Nor am not discounting the G87. In fact, I have never wavered in stating I beleive the G87 will be a highly sought after encore to the F87. The S58 alone will be worth the price of admission.

Regardless, at this time, my eyes are on the G80CS.

Thanks for pointing out the CSL models typically come with back seats. Any insight into the large wing? If typically standard with the CSL, I wonder if they can be deleted and replaced with a CF spoiler at time of build?

I think you know I possessed a 718 CGTS and F87C concomitantly . . . two completely different cars, both of which I thought were fantastic.

I am sure this statement will prompt question as what I feel the difference is between a Porsche sport car and BMW ///M car. All I can say is that, once you have owned both, the answer becomes obvious.

I am a spirited daily driver and I do not think anything meets my current needs and interests better than ///M cars . . . the G80C so damn good! Looking forward to the CS and CSL models.

Question for you . . . will the CSL only be available for the G82 and CS only with the G80? I am asking based on the way you worded your question.

Yes based on the information on bimmerpost here and bmw blog, it looks like the CSL is only for the G82 M4 and the CS for the G80 M3. For one, the C in CSL stands for coupe, so that would mean an M4.
