Brand new m3, gas smell as soon as I got home

So I just picked up my 2024 m3 and the minute I pulled in my driveway and backed up. I got the faintest whiff of fresh fuel. Car was filled up by the dealer, I don’t see any spills. The smell goes away as soon as I step out or start sniffing around. Then I was showing the car to a cousin hours later and after stopping and then starting the car they too smelled fuel. It smells more like fuel in the cabin than when I put my nose to the gas cap.

I tried searching around and a lot of folks mentioned bad injector (but the smell would be much worse). What else might the issue be on a brand new car?

Stepping in fuel and transferring it from shoes to the mats can do it. Not sure how it would be possible, but fuel on hands transferring to the cabin air intake ducts.

Change your shoes, take out the floor mats, and get a car wash with an underbody spray. If you can still smell it the next day, schedule a visit to the dealership.

Thanks, I hadn’t considered this. Ive been wearing the same shoes all day… just odd that I hadn’t smelled it anywhere else. I’ll wash the shoes and floor mats. Just trying to avoid bringing it in for techs to start tearing stuff apart if it’s simple
