Just took delivery of her yesterday, it was love at first sight

First step was to do a full frozen conversion via Xpel Stealth. Thanks to the boys at Nano Defense here in Calgary. Super professional and helpful, could definitely see the desire for them to also want to nail this job.
It is not complete however we are a full day into it. Will add pics along the way. Also doing a tint and ceramic coat to body and wheels.
Once complete, will head to spacers and a HAS kit as soon as BMW has released it.

You can make any paint "frozen" with the Xpel Stealth. Pretty cool, huh?

From what I've heard, the cost of the Stealth is about $5K-$6K (USD), which is about the same cost as getting the actual frozen paint but without the maintenance headaches.

If you could post photos not in studio lighting that would be great! Looks highly reflective. Would love to see what this looks like outdoors in the sun.

Someone else had a post comparing a blue with Xpel stealth versus a true frozen. The frozen paint has a lot more depth compared to the Xpel, it's not really the same end result. However, this does accomplish 80% of the look and protects the underlying paint if that's what you are looking for.

If you really want frozen, i would just fork over the $5k to get the true frozen that will last the lifetime of the car, rather than 5 years or however long the wrap lasts.

Either way, looks great!

Will do, I am just getting updates from the installers. Not bothering them on lighting and such but yes I also want to see it without the light reflection to gauge how black it is.

I read those posts however I felt the exact opposite. At least with black the bmw frozen didn't look as consistent as the stealth. With stealth and a ceramic coat it will be super clean and the color will be consistent all over. Frozen will last the life time but chance of it looking the same is low. I have spent hours of research and in the end the majority say to wrap it. If anything goes wrong with a frozen you ain't buffin it out.
For me, I live in a winter city and it's my daily driver so if the film has issues in certain areas i'm cool replacing those spots to look new.

No, it will be identical to how BMW frozen comes (take a look at the frozen grey's). Leaving out all the carbon bits and gloss parts.

Frozen and lifetime are two words that shouldn't be used together. There are definitely advantages to going Frozen, especially if you're leasing. But if you're buying, XPEL Stealth is 100% the way to go. The differences aren't worth the risks.

One deep scratch or even a small fender bender...then what? You can't buff it out. You can't send the thing back to the BMW factory. At your favorite local body shop color matching factory frozen is going to be practically impossible. You'll probably have to repaint the entire car just to be happy with the end results. And the costs are not going to be pretty. And imagine what that does to depreciation and resale.

I can't wait to see the finished car. I keep going back and fourth between BSM with XPEL Stealth or Dravit Grey with XPEL Stealth. Can't decide.

Not as consistent? As the new owner of a Frozen PB G80, I can assure you that the factory frozen paint is nearly perfect. The sheen of the paint is something that you won’t be able to replicate with a matte PPF.

You decided to PPF your car, cool deal. You don’t have to justify it to anyone, especially not by making ridiculous comments. And yes, I think your car looks great too.

I agree the oem frozen looks better, in the showroom. The issue is that where I live I have yet to see a frozen black car (benz included) that looks mint. I always can see several areas of concern which makes the color look "inconsistent" (all I meant). For sure this likely rests on the owner's ability and knowledge on car care but it in their defense when you have roads that are sand blasted, graveled and salted then add snow to the mix a frozen paint is up against it.
If I lived in Texas I likely wouldn't think twice about getting oem frozen but here in Canada I wasn't going to get an oem frozen to wrap it with xpel (required) just so I knew it was real.
I am looking forward to comparing the two in person, hopefully I can find one nearby and we can do an actual side by side comparison.

Agreed, looking forward to more side by side pics in different lighting conditions.

I think this Stealth wrap can be summarized as follows- 80% of the look with 20% of the hassle factor compared to a "true" frozen color. Being lower maintenance and fully reversible does count for a lot in the northern snowy environment.

And your point about dreading what to do in case of an accident on a car with frozen paint makes it very difficult to justify getting the frozen color, at least for me. I do love seeing it on other people's cars!

Posted rest of the photos, it's 100% finished now. Ceramic also applied to wheels. Tint is at 30% (in last photo)

Sorry my friend, that came out way more aggressive than I intended! I just meant that you don't have to explain your decisioning to anyone. I researched everything about frozen, heard all of the nightmare stories, and I decided to go with it because the car is for me and not for others.
