Stock G80 M3 Competition Dyno - after break-in (and vs stock & tuned F80 M3)

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
We completed the break in miles and had the service carried out by our local BMW dealer so it was time to put it on the dyno to see what we are starting off with!

Car had Shell V Power 99 RON fuel which is 93/94 Oct in the US.

We also compare the stock figures with a stock F80 M3 and Stage 2 F80 M3 (DP and Tune).

Just watched it on YouTube (notification gang). Great video! I specially appreciate the comparison to a stock F80 and stage 2 F80.

So basically the stock G80 puts out between stage 1 & stage 2 F80 power figures, but of course is heavier and has better traction. That's all the data I need at this point in time

Umm.. both the HP and torque are lower than a F82 stock until 3500 rpm. Not sure how I feel about it.

That actually makes sense. When I drove the G80, it was noticeably better planted low down compared to my F82, and I'm not surprised that part of that is attributed to a different HP/torque profile early on in the rev range.

If it equates to batter traction and better launches then it's a positive, not a negative

Was that stock F82 a ZCP or base? That G series is going to freaking fly. Regardless of the looks, it's got monster performance, that, you can't argue against.

Increased torque threshold is always a negative. When you launch the car, you'll not be below this threshold either.

I have suspected the G8x was underrated after taking delivery of my G82 last week. Move over M2CS there is a new sheriff in town. The G8x will soon lay claim to the best modern day BMW!!

Here's a great post from an M2 owner to make it easier/harder

+1. I violently hate the G80's appearance but that's fine for a performance car where (in theory) you're flogging it between 4 and redline on track.

I hated it too, until I saw it in person. This is legitimately the most unphotogenic car ever. In person, it's really fantastic

Right, but that owner wanted to go from a DCT to a manual and needed a HUD due to vision issues, those are some really niche reasons to get into a G8X (the HUD + 6 speed combo). Everyone has different priorities.

If you're on it, you only see 3,500 rpm in 1st gear. Every shift afterwards will be in the fat HP part of the curve. That being said, I'm mostly driving at sane speeds and it's good to have that grunt down low. But I guess all of this is to be expected as they continue to make more and more power with just 3 liters of displacement.
