Yup I'm waiting on coilovers. Happy with my front Eibachs until the right set comes along. Not messing around with HAS.

I might just get the v3/4 coilovers as the ddc might not get release for the g8x.

Depending on price, yes. MSS certainly isn't cutting it for me.

I emailed KW to check on development progress, since the DDC suspension was recently released for the i4. We get nothing. An electric car that’s driven by BMWs version of a Prius owner, gets DDC suspension, and bmw track car doesn’t.

While I understand your logic, it kind of makes sense when you think about it.

DDC isn’t track focused at all actually; what it offers is 3 suspension “tunes”, none of which are really ideal for current road conditions and have been designed with compromises built in. Fully adjustable suspension gives you the ability to unlock a suspension tune that can not only be ideal for the track, but for the street as well.

So it would make sense that for the DDC, KW chose to pursue the i4 (a more street oriented application) over the G8x platform (more track oriented like you mentioned). And it would also make sense that KW chose to develop the V3/V4/V5 first (which are their 2/3/4-way adjustable dampers)

What you’re saying makes sense. They make the DDC for the F80, but where is ours? I’d just like some more adjustability that doesn’t force me to delete my edc.

The ultimate would be kw develop an app to adjust the dampening/rebound via your phone or a controller to mount in the cabin. Similar to the gt3 RS. To me that would be worth whatever they price it at. I’m gettin old and having to dial the suspension manually gets tiresome.

Unfortunately, the letter I posted in post 26, says they aren't even working on them.

Best bet will be Tractiv maybe, KW DDC for F80 was pretty late in the gen lifespan if I recall correctly.

This isnt the first time I've heard this. I do remember someone else saying that they were pretty sure it was later in the model generation. I bought my car too early.

Similarly and perhaps even better, DSC Sport for our cars where all we need are a decent set of springs (or keep factory) and adjustability of the factory shocks based on lateral g’s. Made a noticeable difference in the already good 718 GTS.

DSC sport could have a huge market with BMWs in front of them if they wanted to..

I understand most of the development was jointly done with TPC Racing since these guys were actually racing Porsches and some other brands that they now sell controllers for but BMW aftermarket is huge, if they think some 718 owners buy controllers just to have one more mod, they ain't seen nothing. BMW "tuners" would go crazy ape on some new stuff like this haha

Something like this would be more what I am looking for, more than the KW street oriented stuff.

This is great news! Hopefully Bilstein can come out with their DDC as well but it looks like they have given up on development for the G8X platform altogether

I don't want to break it for you but I contacted kw Germany about 1 month ago and they replied that there was no plan for ddc for g8x platform.

I also asked about the hls system beeing retrofitted in the v4 and the answer was no again due to length.

I can attach a screen shot from the email if you want.

I am personally looking for something more high end ( if i ever fix my car ) for the g80 that has adjustability from inside the car, either with the edc or stand alone

That makes sense. If you scroll back in the thread, I talked to KW Germany, and they said the same, but that was a few years ago. I guess you can’t trust the US to have correct info.

Looks like KW germany has done a switcheroo and actually going to develop DDCs on the G8X platform when initially they didn't want to. Hoping this will motivate Bilstein to come out with their G8X products now. Personally, Bilstein coilovers ride better than KW especially on high speed dampening and rebound.
