I bought another full set of lower black trims to paint match Alpine White. This IMO improves the look of the car massively and adds a touch of understatement.

Will post pictures, once paint is done.

I wonder how the r44 sill extension would look body color...essentially have body (door panel)-->black-->body color below.

That small strip of white was enough to pull the visual edge of the panel to the bottom, which is seemingly what people want to do here.

Color-matching the lower skirts is a big improvement over gloss black on lighter paint colors like Brooklyn Gray. On very dark colors, the gloss black contrast is barely noticeable, so I'm just applying PPF to keep sand, salt and stones from blasting the undersides and shoes from scuffing the hell out of 'em.

My buddy who owns the autobody shop pictured in my photo is a serious artist and immensely precise with his body/collision work. Seeing my car's wrap, he was actually feeling that it doesn't need a blend if painted, just mask off (or take off) the black panels and paint them on their own. He's been doing paint/bodywork for 18+ years, so his level of confidence may not be matched everywhere, but at least in terms of his approach he felt that blending wasn't needed. Caveat: it may also depend on what your individual paint choice was.

And glad you mentioned the diffuser surround. I told the wrap team that I wanted the diffuser to still be all black, since I thought that would make it look more pronounced. But now that I've seen it in person, I want the surround on the diffuser to be body color.

Do you mind sharing where you got these parts from? Thanks

So I'm planning on bringing the shop the front and rear bumpers and the side skirts with the body colored upper trim. If they can match those it should be perfect with no blend.

Looks way better! Your body shop did an awesome job, most of the ones I’ve seen the shades look off on those lower panels after they’re painted.

Damn it's almost absurd how much better the front bumper looks matched on light color cars.

It also looks lower

I'm in the minority here but I don't think this is an improvement. It takes off some of the sportiness. I had this conversation a while back with my next door neighbor who owns a stock Ferrari and his lowers are not painted. The Porsche GT3 (waiting list for 3 years counting) is not painted as well.

The GT3 has the Touring option which is painted.

Just because they are not painted does not mean they don't look better not painted. It was the first mod i did on my GT3

The difference IMO with the G80 is the black pieces don’t look well integrated; they just look slapped on and out of place. I wish BMW did something along the lines of what Audi does with the RS6 side skirts. They look so much better

100% agreed, it's subjective.

Painted/color matched looks soooo much better than the gloss black on the lighter colored cars. Honestly I can now say that the gloss black pieces were giving me second thoughts about going with a lighter colored G80. Thanks, now I have another mod to plan for

I'm with you on this. It all comes down to personal preference and I'm not a fan. Don't hate it, but I personally like the contrast on my BG and a poll on this would probably show 50/50 of folks liking it.

would be a different look definitely, have had a few people do some different colour options and I believe we have a customer that has matched the colour all the way through but never with the black in the middle.
