Responding to the thread, I'm expecting 7:3X with PSC2 tires and RWD 8AT.

Hahaha I don't follow Ring times that much. The Ring is quite far from the US and BMWs generally don't post good times there as BMW will make a car that fits square 10.5 wheels but then only sell it with 9 front 10 rear, etc.

Other than the GTS/CSL whatever, BMW doesn't sell a single car that's remotely prepped for Ring duty. Even in the GTS you could fit substantially wider tires on it.

In the end, regardless of the time it posts, when someone does brakes/suspension/wheels/tires and takes it to the track it will be fast as hell, just like the other M3s before it have also been fast as hell.

My view is that a tuned M2C or CS is a killer Ring car.

This video is one probably outpacing the GT3 RS behind it

Just a few seconds slower than a GT4 across NRing and Hockenheim, which is silly for a 60k car.

I remember that video well, the M2c driver is an ex 991 GT3 RS owner who wanted to build something faster for less money.

If I remember correctly the M2C in that video follows the traditional fast M car formula closely: suspension/tires/brakes etc. In the case of the M2c you can make do with the stock brakes.

When will we get a 'ring time?

The car is out, the embargo is lifted...hell, I've even seen one in the wild. When will they give us the 'ring time for the RWD version?

I was wondering this. Maybe the awd is faster so they are waiting? Or the rwd is faster and they don't want to affect the sales of the awd - if it even would?
Who knows?!

Hopefully weather conditions on the ring are already or soon good enough. They are in mourning now though. RIP Sabine.

I forgot about the weather being bad, get stuck in a California bubble sometimes.

If I recall, in the fall an insider mentioned there was an M4 preprod running around for ring times.... I think it was the frozen blue one spotted a few times.

They did the same for the M5CS but BMW don’t release ring times first as far as I recall. I suspect we need to wait for one of German mags. to set a time before maybe BMWs own times get released.

They probably wait until the initial excitement of the car just launching cools down so they can get a second wave of buyers...I took one marketing class in college so that pretty much makes me an expert 🤣

BMW knew how the car performs on the ring or are they too embarrassed to post the real time lap?

Lol I'll bet you the price of one of these things they aren't embarrassed 🤣 I'd assume they want their fastest lap time posted first so it will probably be a whole thing when they release the awd model.

Either you're being facetious or you are the biggest hater on the forum.

Given that you drive a Zamboni I'm guessing the former is true.

F82 M4, M4GTS and M4cs 'ring times were included in the respective launch press releases and/or technical debriefs of each.

They are definitely keeping the suspense for this one

While we are waiting we got an indication today on how the car does on a shorter more common type of track and...it is impressive. It seems there will be no where to hide from it, 0-60, 1/4 mile, shorter track it is coming to get you
The ring, king of long tracks is still missing but I bet it will be equally impressive.

I forgot that and yes I don’t know why they changed strategy, from lemetier’s comments it is clear that they put down scorching laps for the M5CS and at least ran G8X fast laps in summer/fall last year.

I can't wait to see the numbers. They might simply have a different marketing strategy this time around .

It’s not confirmed if the Buttonwillows time is for track configuration 13 yet but if it is the M4 matched the fastestlaps time of the 570hp 3200 lbs Macca 570S. If that’s what it is, the ring time should be worth waiting for...
