The optional CF bucket seats as shown in the UK video M3 look very good indeed.

This. And I'm sure some will try and paint the narrative of "oh, every new generation is hated at first". But no, I've been around for several cycles now and the vitriol for the G8x is 10 times worse than any I've ever seen and sadly, warranted.

Beware, when this becomes a sales flop because of design, they will probably conclude that there is no market for performance cars left and switch the entire line-up to FWD. LOL
They will blame it on the trend to crossovers and SUVs and say that sedans and coupes don't sell.

Damn now I’m considering keeping my f80 as opposed to getting an m2 cs... f80 has more presence than a small two door car and i won’t feel bad driving the “older” generation now lol
When you look at the performance figures, the F80 still holds and is not far from this new one! Seen the weight advantage, it's not a given the new one will be the better sportscar!

The look has admittedly grown on me. When you do comparisons against the older F82 it looks old. I think the front looks even a bit too plain compared to the rest of the car.

But the huge weight increase. WTF??? Did they even try to reduce weight? Where is it coming from? Why does the RWD weigh so much?? At least F8X generation they could say they were less than E9X. But this is too much.

I'm guessing they'll come with a $5-8k up charge.

This is the biggest embarrassment I've ever seen come from BMW... From appearance to the atrocious specs. 3800 lbs lmaooooooo.

If you want this over a C8, GT350, Camaro, or EVEN AMG at this point then I don't even know what to tell you...

No CFRP brace, no CFRP trunk(presumably), no CFRP driveshaft, steel everywhere, you name more. They cancelled DCT because of cost, easy to assume they spent ZERO effort on weight reduction. What a shame.

You can look at the N-Ring videos and absolutely get a feel for how much better of a performer the new car will be.

The design and the weight I'm just hoping the awful sales this car is going to have won't kill the M3/4 altogether

Looks like they saved cost and re-used the 3er rear door instead of moulding the fender into to it like previous generations.

Also no. I can (try) to get over the grille but it simply doesn't flow with the lower fascia. The "A" shape which is a hallmark of BMW M design appears to be absent and it kind of all just comes across as disjointed. It's terrible. I guarantee this will be addressed at LCI.

Idk who would waste their money on this.
The same people with 4000 lb. stock GTR's smoking stock or lightly nodded F8X's.

I am more in favor of a best-to-retire-at-the-top than linger around old and tired. They should have kept building F8x for 7 more years and called it a day.

Instead of the M4, why not a Nissan GTR, 911, Mercedes AMG GT? Cost?

911's and the Mercedes are in a different world with regards to price/options and maintenance. For someone who wants something a bit more premium feeling and/or who wants an MT, that rules out the GTR.
