RWD and MT for me at least preliminarily without driving them.
My porsche had PDK that was acceptable but it felt like a real motorsport gearbox. I'm certain the auto will be extremely fast/intuitive...but I think it's also going to feel seemlessly smooth. I don't know if I'm going to like that sensation. Def going to need to think on this. The nurburgring test videos appear to have the car powersliding at times....really getting the rear end out. I can't imagine this is the AWD version unless it's rear wheel biased or adjustable? Any thoughts on that? If the AWD version can drive with oversteer, then I'll also think about it....but I can't do AWD cars that don't allow for predictable oversteer... |

I don't like AWD as it adds lots of weight but the F90c feels extremely well tuned |

Still...something I'm going to have to think on as you said due to the extra weight. But it sounds like the driving characteristics will def. allow for oversteer |

I'm really most interested in how the M2 G87 and Supra GRMN with the S58 stack up...the M3/M4 are just too heavy and ugly personally but that engine is mega want.

There are many valid objections to AWD as weight (less agility, higher tire and brake wear), less purity and predictability at limits etc. However when people say it’s not good for tracking period I have to disagree. Racing is by definition about being faster than the other guy and there is one common theme when AWD has been introduced in racing, total dominance followed by either penalties (added weights), full out ban or everyone has followed. This is often lost in talk about its just for people who can’t drive with snow tires or it’s just for stop light jockeys and similar comments.

When AWD is used in real racing, the driver does not need to worry about the cost of stopping 4000lb or cornering. So if you're sponsored, a stage 1 600whp AWD M3 starts sounding pretty interesting |

To be fair though more speed will usually cost you one way or another. |

The MT/AT thing, I've been reading these ZF 8HP transmissions are really all the rage and not your old grandads slushbox. I don't know what the hell to do |

If your only use is the street I don't think you'll notice a negative difference. For the ones of us who are serious trackers, the ZF brings a whole bunch of possible issues into the mix that the DCT did not have. You can pound on the DCT at the track for an hour at a time like a savage and have 0 issues, it is really impressive. |

Now that I understand the options compared to when this poll initially came out and I wondered why there was no base auto/DCT option. I don't quite understand the options though. I would have been perfectly fine with a 'base' auto version. I don't need the extra HP, but now if I want the auto I have to spend extra to get the competition. Or maybe some of that extra money is what I'd have spent on the auto transmission anyway and then they added some more to the price on top of that and I get the competition model. They sure are proud of the pricing starting at $75,000 though.

^^ This ^^
I'll be doing the 6 speed manual M4 at launch, break it in for a few months, then get a mild tune and an exhaust. I went from the, I hate this fan thing, to meh, to seeing this new round of press and falling in love =). The color is where I am hung up on but and as more info keeps coming out I'll eventually decide on color. |
