I also don’t understand why a RS4 avant doesn’t get more buzz. Cleaner path to homologation with A4 allroad already here and they should have a good pulse on sport wagon demand with the RS6. Would prefer a G81 in manual but would gladly take a B10 RS4 Avant if that’s the alternative. Sadly, we likely won’t see either.
Agreed the on the RS4, would love the opportunity to buy one in the US. Still may go RS6 once things calm down a little on demand and we can get one at list.

BMW said the M3 Touring is in the early stage of a two-year development process, so it won’t go on sale until 2022.

I know it's not going to be brought to the US, but having now seen the front end in person, I'd would absolutely jump on a G81 as a daily. Even though I'd want 6MT and RWD, I'd gladly take one however they make it.

Make mine green with those gold wheels.

Agreed. Sign me up for any variant of the G81. Sign me up for two if they make it with three pedals. Okay, that’s an exaggeration, I can barely afford one.

Since I am seriously considering the RS6 the Touring would keep me in the BMW Family.

I'm there with you, the only thing that is deterring me from an RS6 right now is the price. I'm not an Audi fan after owning several, their AWD platform doesn't feel as good to me since it's FWD based on everything but the R8. for $130K as optioned I'd rather have a RWD based AWD at a minimum. their infotainment is also something I don't really care for but I could deal with it. As of right now I'm still getting a G80 unless their release the G81 here

I saw one in the wild yesterday, some kind of flat, light grey color. I caught up to it and passed it just before it turned into snoqualmie pass ski area here. From the rear it looks cool, very beefy wagon but from the side, front and as a whole it’s not really that special looking. I was expecting more from pictures where it looks great. Not for me.

it's an Audi, they have more sensible styling that's almost boring. I'm guessing the color you saw was Nardo Grey. If my wife wasn't so dead set on me getting an Audi I wouldn't even consider it.

Yes, it did look like Nardo. Up here in PNW a car like the RS6 would also be pretty painful to replace an SUV. I was heading up to the mountains for a day of X country ski workout and when I entered the sno park parking area which allow for motorized and non motorized activities there was a Vovo sedan in front of me, it got beached in one of the potholes and needed to reverse out of to limit bumper damage. The parking lot itself is a mayhem of snow mobiles and monstrous trucks. Our Cayenne even feels fragile in that company, an RS6 would be a constant worry. Same when driving over the pass where huge plows are driving up and down during snow falls spraying gravel and rocks, if your windscreen is low from the ground as on a wagon your risk of windscreen damage is exponentially higher. The swarm of lifted pickups without mud guards poses the same risk of rock chips and windscreen cracks to your lows-lung performance wagon.

Is there still at least a slim chance NA is getting it or is it a done deal?

sounds like Texas too.. basically everyone had a truck and it's annoying. I called a few places to inquired about the RS6 and most are marked up $20-40K which is dumb. the car isn't special enough to justify that kind of markup. that alone seals the deal for me to get an G80 M3 with AWD. my wife might be unhappy when I order the CF bucket seats but that's the only way to go

Buy an E63 then? It is a better car anyway.

You know what sucks about that? Dealers mark them up, which leads to less people buying them and then AG turns and says next generation, sorry Americans, you guys don't buy them so we're not sending you anymore in the future. They have no idea the potential of a car like that, all because the dealer interferes with pricing.

I get both sides, if Audi freed up allocations and didn't limit them dealers couldn't mark them up so it's a two way street.
