Rear brakes a disappointment?
So what's up with the braking system on the new M3/M4? Single piston's in the rear, like come on, that's a step back from the last generation. It has always bothered me that the M5 had a single-piston rear, especially for the money! Maybe I'm just nitpicking but I find that the cars don't at least have 2 piston rears as a disappointment.

It should be more than enough for rears. The looks of the caliper is fine for rears, the huge drilled discs is all what is needed to look serious and badass.

For the price they're gonna ask, at least go fixed all the way around.

Former M boss Albert Biermann was once asked why the F10 M5 only had floating one piston rear calipers.
And his answer was that there was no one that makes fixed multiple piston rear calipers with electronic parking brake ,this was back in 2011. But Porsche is able to do it ,the Panamera for example has upp to 4 or maybe 6 pistons at the rear for some time now. Most of the braking are done with the front brakes but i agree that the rear floaters looks a bit cheap. |

Imagine Brembo offering a 4-piston, electronic rear caliper replacement for this M3 (and for all BMW with the new electronic parking brake) as an aftermarket kit... that would be a hot seller. These sliding calipers are sh*t.

It's a cost cutting measure, it's cheap in my opinion.

Rear brake calipers
I thought 4-piston fixed caliper front, 2-piston fixed caliper rear. This is them just after painting. Don’t think rears are one-piston sliding. Same calipers as these: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...yABEgKnRPD_BwE

Definitely cost cutting measure to save beaucoup bucks. Sliders are adequate but when you're paying upwards of 80k, you expect more. Definitely disappointing.
