What do you expect? These are the same losers that bitch and complain about the changes of iOS every year but secretly download the beta on their devices to be the first of their friends to have it.

You know, that front grill actually looks pretty good on a race car...less certain about the road car, but I'm sure we'll all get used to it.

I suspect those who generally dislike the whole grill design will prefer the euro plate as the aesthetic preference is to get as close to the old bmw look as possible
I have placed it in the center but if you take a look a closer, it might interfere with the ACC. So it might need to be placed a bit higher.

It's the same people that upgrade their iPhone every year regardless of whether there was noteworthy improvements or not.
Or people have different tastes and don't mind / like what others don't?
Nobody is in the wrong, one person likes green Cars, the other likes em blue. Same Principle.
Most likely it's a combination of those 2 and many other factors.

Of course people have different tastes, when it comes to beauty.
But let's not kid ourselves that there aren't general guidelines and consensuses on what is considered a good, clean, elegant, pleasing design.

This car, from a design study stand point is a disaster, there no way around that.

If some people think this is your taste, more power to you.
Just know that the majority of people won't agree when you try to tell them how beautiful it is and as a matter of fact, quite a few car designers won't agree either.

Also I was specifically talking about the people that doesn't even care what they're buying but only the fact that it is the latest version and the product is "acceptable" or "will grow on me"

For me the E92 is by far the most beautiful M3. Never liked E46, not "round" enough for my liking.
In these pictures the G82 looks decent.

I hear what you’re saying but they have to design cars to look as sleak and aggressive as possible, and let the “chips fall where they may” with license plates. Lots of us (even me in the NYC area) have “gone braless” for years and paid the occasional ticket in the name of aesthetics. I’ve even had a cop tell me at a 7-11 that he wouldn’t put a front plate on “this car if it was mine.” #FreeTheNipple

One of the most enthusiast-inspired trends I’ve ever seen is the on all new Alfa Romeo’s the license plates are designed to be mounted with an aftermarket-style mount of the tow hook.

This is waaaaay worse than the miscue of the mustache grilles from the pre-LCI E90. That was so minor compared to this. The rest of the lines on the E90 flowed and the car itself was and still is handsome. There is so much incoherence with the G22/G8X design that there is no easy fix. Its clear they copied all the design cues from Lexus/Infiniti/Audi and somehow thought it could just be blended together.
Good point! Yep it does look like they mashed those three together and hoped it would work sigh

Not sure the 8 series should be your design North Star... car has been an overall failure due to its bland styling. For example, BMW NA canceled the M8 coupe and convertible for 2021. This particular example highlights the difference in design preference between the small but vocal group of traditionalists on this board and the general market.

The issue isn't grill size - it's the divider and horizontal bar pattern.

Remove divider and would look much better

Too bad the 2 series grill, or the 5 series grill wasn't used. This grill is and always will be atrocious.

Design needs to evolve. Maintaining all key design cues and going with a big grill that fits in the overall flow of the design could have worked. But IMO, too many design cues are abandoned all at once on the 4-series.

Yup, I think this is something Audi did right when it comes to big grills. BMW is too late into the game and has no idea where to begin on the design with out copying other brands. Would be interested to see how bmw might evolve and if they'll take consumer's feedback to adjust the style for the 4 series & M3/4.

My prediction is this design head will be out within 18-24 months and we'll have a substantial mid-cycle refresh.
