I don't think anybody is cross shopping a G8X and a 10+ year old German non-exotic

A clean sorted out E9X (let's say from Enthusiast Auto Group) will probably cost north of 80k. I'd love to get my hands on one in a couple of years. I just shelled out 87k on my base M3 (with the options I wanted) so I need to atleast three years to financially recover.

At the same time, you cannot ignore a manual well spec'ed CT5-V Blackwing. I know, I know, I'm all over the place with this.

I picked up a Miata RF to play around with while waiting for BMW to make more cars (and get more chips to build them!)

The cool thing is that they gave me what I paid for my 2018 Golf R, and even now it looks like I'll be able to get a good trade in allowance on the RF when the M3s start trickling in..

Even though I’m absolutely in love with my G80, I occasionally “stumble” on their site looking at mint E9x M3s. Specifically the Lime Rocks.

And ditto on the CT5 BW. Hard to ignore that car.

I was looking at F8xs and E9xs M3/4 before buying the G82, but nice ones were just too expensive, and they are still older BMWs out of warranty, and we all know what that can turn into.

Apparently, GM still hasn't produced any CT5 BW for sale (I guess we can thank the pandemic and shortages) so that decision was made for me. Not to say that I won't consider it when they do come out.

An optimistic 13 MPG…

No; you're not buying for gas mileage but that's ridiculous .

My guy, glad you got your car, but one or two of us are sitting in 047 purgatory.

Also, vintage? Craigs list? That's kind of insulting for a lot of us e9x fanatics. Next meet you attend, please check one out. They're incredible.

The collector grade stuff from EAG has been interesting to watch. I bought my 38k mi 6MT E90 from a forum member. I can't speak to all forum transactions, but I made a friend in the process. He wanted to sell to a true enthusiast, I wanted a great condition e9x without paying EAG $80k

I did. I decided the only solution was both!

The warranty issue is real. I'm comfortable replacing fluids, gaskets, brake service, but if I run into trouble I definitely need a pro. That said, we're never going to see cars like the E46 & E9X M3's again. I love the newer tech in the F80, and the torque is awesome, but the analog drive feel peaked with the E46 and E9X. I'm sure I'll love the G80, but I don't think it's going to be quite as much high-revving, screaming exhaust, hydraulic steering fun as I've had in the older M3s.
