I remember someone posted this weeks ago and he mentioned July 2021 which kinda sucks as far as I am concerned.
EDIT: found it Quote:

I expect the manual/RWD & auto/AWD to be available at the same time. Over 80% will be the latter and I don't think BMW would risk delaying those owners from being early adopters to drive the latest & greatest.

I have a hard time believing the awd model will be delayed introduction. Bmw has positioned xdrive as its premium drivetrain offering (example: new M440 where xdrive was the introduced variant and rwd is not coming till November)
I won't jump on this train till one of the proven insiders backs it up. |

OK, so pure it is for G80, at least we know. An Xdrive 6MT would have allowed me to get rid of a few cars, but I want a larger car with 4 doors, but it has to be a stick.
However, no Euro Delivery has me looking around at various new cars, part of my allegiance was the ‘Stairway to Heaven at The Welt’....what an experience. W/O that option I have several contenders. |

What I understood from the OP is that it'll be launched as Manual/RWD (no Auto/RWD) and that's what I can't understand as the Manual/RWD version will be 20% or less sales in my opinion. |

F80 manual take rate in the US was like 28% according to bmwblog as of their article in 1/2019. I can't begin to guess what the distribution will look like but I'm hoping more units will sell to the colder markets to help R&D moving forward. Okay fine I'll venture a guess: 1/3 6MT/RWD 1/3 Auto/RWD 1/3 Auto/AWD

Once you actually have the pen in your hand ready to sign, much faster or not...hmmm. The hardcore MT crowd will not care. MT or death. |

I was a manual guy years ago and enjoyed my manual BMWs up to and including my 2007 Z4M Coupe which was arguably the most fun BMWs at the time. Then I tried the ZF8 in my current F30 335i and it's good enough as an auto for a daily driver, even when I was pushing close to 400whp and over 470wtq it performed well. Driving my modded 335 and test driving an F80 M3 convinced me that RWD has its limitations when straight line performance is important to you. A big part of enjoying a fast car for me is being able to take off fast at a light & the ability to go to the twisty roads and have some fun. So now I'm considering a G80 M3 auto & AWD and I'm sure it'll deliver what it takes to keep me happy for many years. |

What does the 3900 lbs GTR have on the current M4 comp? About 100hp, better aero and a very trick AWD system. Each key to it’s tremendous performance. An AWD G82 comp. will add most of those things though still short of 50hp or so. Signs are there that it will be an animal though and far outperform the RWD version. |

guess we'll just have to see what happens. and the good thing about the AWD is you don't even have to give up RWD for it! the Auto/RWD crowd will be a lot of penny pinchers I think lol. It's a weird combination for me with the X drive available. the extra weight down low doesn't really scare me, personally. I wanted 6MT/MXD. without that I'm not too sure about the G80, especially since I'm already compromising on the looks.

You are not only getting AWD but also 30hp more (480 to 510) and different bumpers, trim etc. If comp package historically has been about $7k, then this AWD model will be at least $10k difference. |

Dang... pretty steep but I bet you're right. MXdrive and comp pkg is going to closing in on $100k then maybe ... yikes. That would definitely have me cross shopping for M5CP again too. When I got my F80s I got a few grand off and they were mid-/high 60s... that was a good value to me but $90k+ would be tough to justify.

Go RWD and spend the £10k on CCB’s and the carbon seats!

Loaded x3m is ~84k so I would expect a similarly equip g80 (competition, exec, driver assistance pro) to be +/- 1k of that amount. I suspect most are going to go out the door 75-80k msrp |

My lease is due up in March on the F80, if a similarly equipped G80 jumps to $90k with MXDr, and I can't get a 15% discount that close to launch... especially if I'm really waiting a couple months for the MXDr to happen combined with my teetering feelings of the grille... I'm much more likely to head across the parking lot and look at a stripper 992 for only a few grand more.
