I still just can't get over that steering wheel. Bulky, ugly, unoriginal, lacks any sense of sportiness. Like how do u honestly, with a straight face, offer all carbon fiber multipoint harness sport seats with that steering wheel. There's more oxymorons in this cars identity than any M car I can remember. Big, but nimble. Heavy, but light on its feet. Ugly, but it grows on you. Ha, Im sure there's more ...

Anyway I wish it's just the test wheel or a diff one offered or something but I doubt it. Something I don't have to spend 2k aftermarket on at least. Ehhhhhh

This is overthinking, taking a perfect looking F8x bmw and making it bad... real bad, like we've never seen from BMW #DepartingYourRoots

Couldn't agree with you more about the steering wheel! I don't know how they went from the F80 steering wheel to that. It looks too bulky with too many buttons and I think its time they need to update it with something new.

Garage List
"The all new BMW M3 and M4 will be available in both all wheel drive and rear wheel drive configurations, up to 510 hp, automatic transmission as well as stick shift"

Interesting wording. Probably reading too much into it but one could read this to mean that you can get up to 510 hp in auto OR manual vs. it sounded like only lower power models would get the stick. We'll see

That steering wheel looks even fatter than the one on my M3CS. Some have complained about that steering wheel but I actually like it. Especially in Alcântara.

It's the same M sports steering wheel in any of the new 3 series and X5. Definitely feels thicker than the previous gen M wheel. But I like it and will gladly accept it in the new M cars

510hp means nothing if it's heavier and bigger just numbers on a page.
G series & cars in general just getting too fussy to appeal to mass markets. Porsche the only brand who seem to be trying to resist

Is a steering wheel the end of the world? Honestly no it isn't, but they have always had great steering wheels and the F8x was truly such a great one with resemblance to the earlier BMW days. The new one is recycled in almost the entire lineup and has the same complaints as the CS steering wheel, which is too thick for most.

AMG and Porsche have some amazing steering wheels and this doesn't match up. Again I know it's a small part, but why would you revert on something you ALREADY were doing so well? BMW continues to fall behind and MAYBE if they listen to their fan base they would be in a different position. Just my opinon and two cents.

The AWD will be automatic only and have 510hp for the comp and 473 in the base. The pure model will be RWD and manual at 454 according to most reports.

If all u wanted was 510hp and a manual, "go for other cars!" Ha come on man.

The purpose of focusing on the steering wheel choice just further proliferates where bmw m head is at when developing this car. Continuing to lose its old school, more sports car focused roots.
