This makes sense to me. The coupe is way too big to be a coupe IMO. I even felt this way about the E92 with its boat-sized door. The GC should be nice. Now if only they didn't through 90% of BMWs design language/heritage out the window.

Quote:
The regular M4 will use the twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre straight-six engine, known as the S52, that features in the recently launched X3 M and X4 M SUV duo and is also set to be used by the new M3 saloon.
At least they are returning to form in the motor! Whoops.

Someone hasn't been drinking BMW marketing koolaid. It's obvious! The M3 is a sedan, and the M4GC is a sedan with a slightly sloped roof therefore coupe. Duh. Didn't you know literally anything can be a coupe these days?

While doing this, BMW should also add M-Wagon in the mix

Ohhh words you got the gran coupe!!!! Shitt is GRAN
What you are all missing is the fact that the 4GC is a long wheelbase (LWB) model (similar as the 8GC has a much larger wheelbase than the 8 coupe), and will have massively more leg-room (compared to the M3, but even more so to the M4). Whether the slanting roofline will help the rear headroom is another thing, of course.

To flip it around, having to engineer another M-model for the LWB with all the differences that this brings might be a big trade-off, so no wonder there hasn't been a M4GC mule spotted so far.

But if they could pull it off without too much additional development costs, I think it would pay off for BMW, as the F36 had a pretty high take rate (again, that might not transfer to the M models, but why leave that on the table if it's a low-hanging fruit?).

I HIGHLY doubt a M4GC will come out.

To me it makes absolutely no sense but hey in this day and age it wouldn't suprise me.

The 4er GC configuration being in hatchback form, is far more useful versus a 4 door Sedan with a trunk.

I think a true M Version would be really awesome.

and then in a couple years they rebadge it the 6GC because the M2 gets a gran coupe version as well and keeps growing in size and price to inch too close to the m3/4 so they rebadge that as well and cancel the m2 moniker and the cycle happens again.

I know Audi has the RS5 Sportback and that would be a reason why BMW would even consider a M4 Gran Coupe, but Audi doesn't have a RS4 which the Sportback is supposed to cover.
Nothing says that the M4GC would have to sell for more than the M4. For instance, BMW Canada is asking less for the M8GC than it does for M8 coupe...

I can see an opening for M4 Gran Coupe but I do not believe they are committed to anything yet for inclusion.

However with things as the are. The Performance i4 could feature an M badge, allowing the first electric M model as well as the first M variant of the 4er Gran Coupe.

It would be seriously refreshing to see BMW put out a car that would match or crush the performance of Tesla's Model 3P.

I am extremely hopeful. I just don't understand how BMWi can be so ridiculously slow to complete in the EV segment.
