Where did you recently see a CFRP item on a G8x?

it'll do 2.7-3.1s to 60 and run somewhere in the 10's for 1/4 mile I'm sure

M4 profile has a strong "What the Mustang could have been..." vibe.

Two tons of fun.

Agree - the interiors are spectacular.

But it'll be funny to see posts about "My G80 lightweight build."
There will be a few for sure.

Possible but I dont think they'll want to step on the toes of the m5...at least officially lol. The m sport models are usually listed as 0.2 seconds faster with xdrive but its safe to assume traction loss is a much bigger factor in a 500+ hp car. So im thinking theyre gonna list it at 3.5 but it could certainly be faster than that

That being said I'd love to see the official 0-60 time faster than a model 3 performance

It's not the looks that have hurt sales as it's widely recognized as the best looking BMW today and more the price and the fact that it's not an SUV as coupes are a hard sell these days.

For me the good far outweighs the "less than optimum" features about this car, and I will take one please in IOMG with sport seats in individual Tartufo.

Now onto something of possible interest to the rest of you who are thinking of buying one of these cars. The under hood pictures we have seen so far have all shown the strut bracing in 3 black painted metal pieces instead of the snazzy CFRP of the F series M's. This for me has been one of the "less than optimum" features I referred to above, and probably is to more than a few of you too. Well, in speaking with the BMW rep accompanying the car, he told me that these were used on the pre production vehicles, but that they will be replaced with CFRP parts in the production vehicles.

This is the first I have heard of this, and who knows for sure if this guy's info is correct. Sure would be nice if it is though. So my question is, has anyone else heard of this, or can any "insiders" verify it?
hmm...regarding to the M guys it will be steel because of various reasons, they said steel is "stiffer" or something (but the weight is not a lot higher than CF as they are empty inside). Anyway, they won't be CF regarding this Video:

At about 08:25 they stark talking about it.

I hope I understood them correctly and that this was your question.

of course not, BMW always is conservative with their numbers. we all know it'll be sub 3s to 60 though, afterall the 500+ HP is also on the safe side. I treat BMW figures as WHP so

If you're gonna get an M8, you might as well get am AMG GT-R for about the same price. M8 is basically exotic car pricing for a regular luxury coupe.

I'm not exactly sure I would call an AMG GT-R an exotic either and I think the M8 Comp looks better but for this much money I wouldn't buy either as they are both too much money IMO.

The car looks pretty serious here, it manages to carry that wild/exotic color very well.

The problem with the M8 Coupe is that it can't fit more than 2 people whereas the M6 Coupe can fit 3 people very happily. Because of that the M8 starts competing with actual 2 seaters and at that point it has no unique points at all.

2.7 seconds 0-60 is Porsche 992 911 Turbo S numbers. Can't see the M3/M4 that fast especially carrying 4,000 pounds.

I find the AMG GT cars attractive. However, looking at the video reviews, I know I would hate the mouse controller to change infotainment, radio stations, etc. Would drive me crazy.

Also, as attractive as the AMG GT cars are, I think I would have buyer's remorse over not getting some version of a 911 instead. 911's usually beat the AMG GT cars in head-to-head comparisons.

the M5 does it in 2.6s owe C&D excluding the 1ft roll out as per the standard. I think sub 3s is possible but we will have to wait and see. of course this would be under ideal conditions.
