Silverstone interior

I absolutely love the look of the extended silverstone interior! The only trouble is that I don't think this interior color would match well with skyscraper grey. On my build I currently have kyalami extended chosen as the interior color. Production is slated for June 2022 so I have a bit of time to decide if this color combo is what I really want.

Dravit seems very popular, but I'm not keen on the gold metallic. How about Brooklyn Grey and Silverstone? I had a Nardo Grey M340i and it seems like BG is close to that color? My M340i had blue extended interior which was nice, but it wouldn't be something I'd order. The one other color I have thought about is Aventurine red. Silverstone would look great with that I think!.

Thoughts on silverstone? Does it stain easy from blue jeans or other contaminents? Easy to clean?

I've had full silverstone leather in my F82 M4 for nearly 3 years, covering 35k miles and regularly having kids in the front and back, including the use of a car booster seat for my youngest.

There are literally no marks on the leather whatsoever anywhere in the car, including the drivers seat - and I wear jeans every day. So as long as the quality of the leather interior is as good in the new Gen cars, (and there's no reason to think it won't be), you shouldn't have any issues.

The only place I've had any discolouration at times is on the centre arm rest that I use all the time, however simply wiping it with a leather cleaning wipe (I use Meguiars Gold Class Rich Leather Wipes) removes it easily and leaves no discolouration.

I did once transfer brake dust and dirt from my hands onto the Silverstone leather on the door and again, it easily wiped off with a leather wipe leaving no discolouration.

I'm one month and 2,000 miles into our M4 with Full Silverstone. Like RichardGM4, I only wear jeans (blue or black) but no kids, pets or food. I applied ceramic coating to the leather first chance I got, and I believe it's made regular clean-up even easier. I clean on a weekly basis any areas showing dirt or dye transfer. I use Colourlock mild leather cleaner and one of their soft bristle brushes designed specifically for agitating the cleaner into the crevices of the leather grain. I recommend, highly.

As for paint color, Skyscraper will offer more contrast than Brooklyn to Silverstone, which has a subtle blue cast to it. For that reason, Portimao (in ram9cc's photos) or Tanzanite Blue (my pick) pairs well with it, as does Black Sapphire. Quite a few have paired Silverstone with Isle of Man Green.

Silverstone has been on my last two G80's--- its a brilliant offset to almost any color IMHO:

I pick my Skyscraper grey and full SS interior on Monday. I don't know why it wouldn't match. They're both monochromatic-ish colors and contrast nicely. I'll post when it comes in.

I'm going with silverstone as well with Dravit. I have not had any staining issues on my M3 CS over the last 3 years, which is similar. Also, I hear you can ceramic coat interiors now so that might be added protection if you feel it is worth the cost.

I think that silverstone is a fine fit for almost any color the g80 is offered. It was my first choice but took a risk with FJORD Blue. Go with silverstone!

I don't think you can go wrong with Silverstone vs {any color}. Here's my Brooklyn Grey + Silverstone. I am so freaking happy I optioned the full Silverstone.

Note: no matter the interior be sure to get the M Performance floormats. Besides looking 100X better than what BMW originally supplied, they also add 40 hp.

I love my Silverstone interior and glad I decided to go for it with my car despite it being a daily driver with two little ones in the back. I have less than a 1,000 miles on the car but will echo the other comments in that it has been easy to maintain. I also opted to get it ceramic coated. Here's a few shots on delivery day.

I opted for full Silverstone over Oxide Grey for my build. In terms of ceramic coating/cleaner, what product does everyone use?

I went with the Adam's ceramic coating and it was very easy to apply. I got 68.00 one on Amazon that included the brush and microfiber stuff to complete job. It took me about an hour or so to complete.

Silverstone all the way!
It contrast so well with darker ext colors and also the black interior bits. If I spec'd a g80 it be Skyscraper over silverstone

I had SS on my original order with IOMG. I changed it because I was worried about the maintenance. This thread makes me regret it ….. I think KO will still look good but.

I'm using Carpro for ceramic coating (like Adams, quite easy and idiot-proof to apply) and Colourlock for cleaning. I also have Leather Masters dye transfer leather cleaner if/when I need it.

I bet most of us will achieve best results for maintaining Silverstone by regularly cleaning the leather lightly, vs. letting it get fairly soiled and stained and having to clean it more aggressively. Kinda like paint, rims, plastic and rubber trim, etc. Benign neglect is not our friend ...
