Graceful Entry and Exit with Carbon Bucket Seats?

Is there a way to get in and out of the car without looking like an idiot? I love the seats and I'm 6'4. Only sat in the seats twice...

Asking for a friend LOL.

If your skirt is short, we recommend wearing some safety shorts underneath. In and out with long skirts or tight dresses is all but impossible.

There are some videos on you tube re: best practices on how to get out of LWBS in a Porsche Spyder. One of them seemed to work. Essentially swing your left leg out perpendicular while still facing forward and then pressing off the left leg and up. The real issue is when you pull into a tight spot and can’t open up the door wide enough.

Same here at 6’2” 190. I’ve tried out the buckets a few times now and they are super comfortable once locked in but my G80 is a DD and getting in-out constantly with the buckets multiple times a day sounds like a nightmare. If I were to do it again I would still go with the regular sport seats. Buckets do look awesome though for sure.

Yup. With the steering wheel not retracting, on my standard seats I have to shimmy between them, pivoting my foot to push up and out. When I tried the buckets, sliding the seat back and pushing the wheel in was a must for me at 6'2". If I were younger and single, I'd put up with that.

Amen brothers! I'm 6'1 and I like to think I'm in good shape but I spill out of my car sometimes even with the regular sport seats, it's not a good look. I do love the buckets, they look amazing.

set 1 as your driving position

set 2 as your ingress/egress position

place your left hand on the door sill and right hand on the center console. push up like you're doing the up part of a tricep dip. then when you are clear of the side bolsters put your left leg on the ground outside and begin to transfer your weight to it. then get out

Yes. But does it matter?

The buckets do require a commitment, especially for a DD. I’m seven months in and love the buckets.

As noted, set seat position #1 as your driving position and #2 as your ingress/egress.

I'm 5'10" and 170 lbs and in good shape.

Getting in: I open the door and then face it, squatting and aiming my rear end towards the seat center until I can grip the sides of the seat like handles and lower/pivot myself into place, trying not to rub the seat edges.

Getting out: basically the reverse; grip the sides of the seats, tricep-push up, pivot left, left foot out the door, then push in that direction until my foot touches the ground and follow with the other. The side skirt sticks out pretty far, so I almost stumble out trying not to touch it.

A quick-release steering wheel like you'd find in a race car would make this process much easier.

But I think a larger person, especially someone very tall, might have a hard time with these seats.

Not everyone here. I'm only 5 feet, 5-1/2 inches tall, and weigh 140 lbs. No, I did not get the carbon bucket seats. The standard seats work fine for me.

5 10”, I fall in… getting out.. a swing and a push down with my hand behind me. Scared to stretch a stitch but it is what it is.

Stupid question but is the seat strong enough to continuously push off the sides of the seats when getting out? I'm in shape and this is doable but concerned if the seat can hold up.

I push off the door seal. Occasionally the centre arm rest but not the seat or bolsters.
