Seat Ventilation
Hey Everyone, I'm finalizing my order for G80 and I've gone back and forth on seat ventilation. A lot of the posts here read something like "It's mostly useless, but for the price it's worth it". I have had it on my last few cars and while it's not particularly noticable it does ease the sweaty back effect. Can anyone give me some better feedback on if the M3's system is particularly bad or if it's just not a night and day difference.?

for the price its 100% worth it
i've always said it doesn't do much. However, i once forgot to turn it on and immediately noticed its absence. so it definitely does something

I have them in my car. Are they that effective? No, but they do help. What's important to keep in mind is the system isn't blowing air on to your back, it's removing the hot air. It works better the hotter you are if that makes sense. If I go directly from a cool building to my cool car, I don't notice it much. If I get in my car after a run or something, it's amazing.
Like you said, for the cost, it's a no brainer (unless you live somewhere really cold I guess).

I think they function as intended. For the cost, they do a good job of pulling heat away from your body.
I do not keep these cars long enough to know what type of maint or filter needs to be replaced for them. Sans that, I see no downside to them.

Agreed. Rather have it going than nothing. Even if it doesn't actually blow cold air at you, just pulling air away, it's at least something. I think the price is pretty low compared to what value you get out of it.
If you're used to it in other cars just relieving your sweaty back feeling, I think you'll know what to expect. |

I had the ventilated seats in my X3M. They definitely make a difference when you're hot and sweaty. I will miss that feature in my carbon buckets.
Plus: when they are on, you get a fresh puff of Merino leather smell. |

100% worth it. Especially for the price. It's definitely noticeable in terms of turning them on and feeling airflow.

Because of the little ventilation holes think about if anyone eats or spills something… Maybe you have kids.
I don’t find the ventilated seats all that helpful. If I do eat in my car I always park to be extra careful.

It hasn't got that hot here in Houston, but I definitely feel them working. Are they as good as my Porsche ones? I don't think to. Are they as good as the domestic cars that blow cold air at you? No, but I'm glad about that as those make me feel like I peed my pants.
So yes, get them if you are at all "warm blooded". I definitely do not regret whatsoever. On my F10...they were a waste. |

For what it’s worth I’ve removed it from my build last minute because I saw a post here that the seats are less comfortable because they remove padding to add the ventilation. I went to the dealership and sat in cars with and without the ventilation and found a definitive difference. I’ve had a history of back issues and I am particularly sensitive to this. I wouldn’t say the ventilated seats are uncomfortable just the ones without ventilation are more comfortable.

I appreciate the feedback everyone, that's exactly what I was looking for. I'm a bigger guy and definitely run hot so any help is beneficial. It looks like I'm going to stick with the ventilated seats.

Absolutely worth it in TX, one of my biggest complaints with my last car was the lack of ventilation leading to my lower back sweating like crazy even with the cabin cold. Hopping in the car after a workout at the gym you definitely feel the ventilation, my back is nice and cool almost immediately.

Lol I got ventilated seats in my F250 Tremor, I honestly don’t think I can live without them in any vehicle now. Its still winter, and just sitting in the seat, my body temp rises, so I have already started using them even on colder days.

Honest Advice...
I would absolutely go for it. After purchasing many cars, I have learned one valuable lesson...get every option available! This way, you will never have any regrets and you will always enjoy the car even more! I found that fully loaded cars are more enjoyable to drive and I also seem to keep them longer. Just my humble opinion...
