Upgraded to a 24 M4 comp a few weeks back and traded in my 22 M240!

What has everyone done to their car? Ordered the CSL lights for it but have heard rumors of them burning out quick with just the regular LEDs. Anyone have any issues with that? Also have a valve controller on order with a mid pipe. I’m a big fan of the 50th badges so got those installed as well as tint

Don't forget an oil cooler guard. First thing that should be done.

Also, how did you like the M240I? I already have a 24 G83 but looking to possibly order the M240I for the wife.

That is a good point. Which one did you go with for the guard?

I loved the M240. Perfect power for what I was looking for in a daily driver just wanted something the next step up! Best value car out there in my opinion! Would highly recommend looking into one for her!

I went with the Zunsport as it was substantial enough for me and a great price. Many go with Mishimoto which is also a great guard. Congrats on the new car!

Thank you! Going to look into that and probably get one! Let me know if you go with a M240 in the future

If the M240i was the "best value car out there" and the "perfect power for what I was looking for in a daily driver" then why did you trade it in? The more expensive and more powerful model isn't always better - it depends on your needs and plans for the car. IMO I agree that the B58 engine is perfect for daily driving and with AWD you can do a stage 2 tune and get all the power you would ever need AND be able to put it to the pavement....is the new M4 Xdrive? Are you looking to make 700whp? Take it to the track?
This is just my 2 cents. You can't change anything and I'm sure you will love the car. But I have a lot of experience with fast cars as my current Mustang makes 700whp but I rarely get to use it just driving around town....my wife's Z4 with the B58 and stage 1 tune is way more fun. And my friends 981 Porsche Cayman GTS (PDK) is stupid fun around town because of the light weight, sound, and drama...and it's not that fast...

The M240 and M4 don’t even compare to cars. I live in an area where I was originally looking at having a car I can have out all year round. Now I am at the point to where I wanted the next step up. The B58 is great but the S58 is even better. The two cars drive completely different. I wanted a fun summer car and a true M car. Down the road maybe I will turn this into a 700whp car because it’s pretty easy to do. This car will be put away in the winter and will have another vehicle out when that time comes. The M4 is not xdrive it is rwd but was looking at an M2 which was just RWD anyway. Again these two are completely different cars and while yes the M240 was the perfect car to daily I was looking for the next step up in the lineup. Always dreamed of an M car so this is what I did. The true M cars are definitely better than the M lite cars. Driving it for 1 weeks has shown that even with a tuned M240

Agree. Having come from a tuned B58 platform, I used to be of the mindset that there wasn't a huge difference between the M car and the M lite car. The M lite is definitely a very, very good car and more than enough for most people out there.

Now that I have a G80... make no mistake, it's big, big forward step over even that pretty high standard.

Trotz Great upgrade.

I made a similar move from an M Performance model, a Z4 M40i, to an M3. My conclusions are the same ...the M Performance cars are great and I don't regret owning them, but I will be sticking with M cars from now on. It's just a superior driving car. The interior quality is also miles better ...Merino leather, CF trim from the factory, etc.

BTW, I'm going to drive mine all year, including the winter. I decided doing PPF + getting a set of winter tires was cheaper than buying a second vehicle.

B58 seems like a great engine...until you try S58.

I went from a modified 135i to a G82 CX and they’re two completely different experiences. Everything in the M4 is better and I’ve been very, very happy with the swap.

If mine was xdrive I would 1000% be driving it all year round but with the RWD I am going to keep it in the garage if there is snow. I will say though I will do winter tires and drive it as many days as I can!

Even on the M lite cars with m performance parts it still doesn’t even compare to the true M cars! Congrats on the switch

Here is the essential new M owners starter kit:

1. Rear brake caliper “M” tabs $50-60 for both
2. Zuni port Oilcooler guard :$200?
3. “M” center console badging by the shift lever: $40?
4. Ceramic Coat paint—especially since you have a black car $ <$1000
5. Screen protector for digital display/dash $60

The rest I think is pretty optional and per taste or you already covered.
I want to do a valve controller next myself
