If you use waze through apple CarPlay you can press the map button on the center console and it goes directly to waze. Also pressing the Media button will go to whatever you're listening to in CarPlay.

I just discovered this and think it's pretty neat!

Discovered that I'm still sat in "Final Assembly (154)" for the third week in a row. Sigh.

First world problem but still a bit annoying that I can't get any info out of anybody 😂

Someone mentioned on youtube that the brake duct shields can be removed for track duty, but I didn't remember until my brakes were literally SMOKING even after 2 cool down laps. I turned the wheel lock to lock to remove these shields and the brakes were MUCH happier!

However, BMW recommends to keep these on for street driving. It affects fuel economy and street driving doesn't heat the brakes nearly as much.

A few things I discovered.

Automatic G8X - going between automatic and manual modes. I thought the only way to go from automatic/manual mode was to hit the gear shifter to the right. This is not true. There are a few ways:

Manual to Automatic: Hold the + (right) shift paddle
Automatic to Manual: Hold the - (left) shift paddle

Many people probably knew about that with other series BMWs. This is what I found was new:

1 - If you are in Automatic mode and you up or downshift using the paddles, it will temporarily put you in manual mode, then put you back in auto.

2 - If you are in Automatic mode and you up or downshift using the gear selector, it will keep you to manual mode!

I thought that was pretty cool.

Second thing I noticed. If you pass gas while the ventilated seats are on it will just circulate the fart at epic speeds. DO NOT EVER DO THIS.

I hope either of these tips helps someone out.

I found the exact same thing today (the shift paddles, not the fart).

Personally, I don't like it. In my F82 shift paddles and shift knob both put the car in manual mode when used. If anybody knows how to make the shift paddles go into manual mode by just using them to shift, let me know!

Ok I'm super confused. On my G82 using either paddle shifts it into "manual" gear shift.

If I'm in manual already and keep the right shift depressed it goes back to automatic. I've only tried this with the right paddle so don't know if left is the same way. I'd assume so.

I've got the carbon seats. Farting goes straight to the rear. 🚶🏻💨

Interesting. I had the exact same experience as JSTDR1V . I was cruising along in 8th gear and down shifted to 7th gear with the left paddle to change up the RPMs (still breaking it in), and within a few seconds it shifted back into 8th gear. I tried it again and noted that the gear selector said 7 (D) and it shifted back into 8th.

I then tried the shift knob, doing the exact same thing and it went into manual mode and stayed in 7th gear. I just showed 7th gear with the transmission in the 3rd stage.

Next time be very aware of the drive position. Put it in auto... Downshift with a paddle. It will highlight the gear, and keep it in that gear for maybe, 30 seconds, 60 seconds, then it will go back to D.

Alternatively, have it in D, and then downshift using the shift knob, and it will stay with the number, it won't return to D.

Maybe G82 is different? Maybe software differences? I have a week 1 build 2022 model.

If you want to keep it in manual mode just using the paddles you have to hold down the downshift, but it will put you in the lowest available gear for the RPMs... i.e. if you are in 5 at like 40MPH, it may bring you straight down to 2... but it should stay in manual mode and not revert back to D.

The manual mode is not what you know of. There are 2 manual modes. If you are on auto mode (in comfort) then when switching to manual, it'll be comfort manual mode with limited power / sound.

If you are on M1 / M2 auto mode (with sport / plus etc... whatever you set for the M button) then when switching to manual mode, it'll be that mode in manual with full power /sound etc.. whatever on that M setting.

It is not new to me, and the same is true with other manufacturer, i.e Audi. But I have to show my guys a few times as they dont even know. They usually complaint dont like manual mode as it is less power and less sound !

Well today I discovered that she has an attitude.
It was pretty hot today so I wanted the cooled seats on. I said, "Hey BMW, cool my ass"
She replied "Watch your language. I do not appreciate how you're talking to me", or something like that lmao.

Is there any way to make it so the radio/audio turns off when you stop the engine rather than when you open the door?

Triple press "lock" on the fob, wait a few seconds, you get a double light flash and it'll fire up. At least, does on my G80 comp.
