That's really weird. How do you lock/unlock your doors from inside your car? Can you take a picture of that spot in your car?

That picture is very distorted.

If I recall OP is in European market.

Black can be silver for door lock trim.

Post that part of your door

I think he means the material of the buttons. Europe and Canada have the silver buttons.

Hey Everyone,
Yeah on EU market you have the chance to have plastic or galvanic controls.
But what I meant here is something else: so my car is LHD and it has lock/unlock buttons only on the drivers side, but not on the passenger side.

So I don't have the buttons as shown here:

Another "great" thing is that even though I went for galvanic buttons, those on the passenger side, which are blank, are still plastic

Post a picture of the missing buttons.
Maybe you didn't choose one of the executive packages?

You are right, this is a significant drawback! The passenger's side's "buttons" for locking/unlocking procedure are only plastic dummies, see picture.

My car:
M4CXdrive 4/22 Germany

Me and my mom had a standard procedure, for example at the gas station:
Me unlocking both or my door(s), tanking up, closing the fuel door, then, while I'm going to the shop for paying, mom tipping button on the dashboard to lock both doors and the fuel cap. So car, fuel inlet and mom (watch priorities!) are safe.
When coming back, mom unlocks doors and I get into the car.

May the profit due to only one lock/unlock device get stuck in BMW's throat!

Your car has a lock/unlock button on the dashboard? Where? Post a pic of that. Mine doesn’t.

Oh, I was not clear enough: My F32 had it. And I'm missing it now, accessable from both passenger's and driver's side. Sorry for the confusion!

That’s actually insane. My 2023 g82 from Canada has lock unlock on the passenger side. Why would they delete it in your market?? I’d be so pissed. I’m trying to understand the logic but am coming up with nothing.

Yeah, very weird. Almost seems like a regulation, but I have no idea.

Anyone else in Germany that can comment if ANY car sold there has an unlock/lock button on the passenger door?

I can confirm that my 2022 M4 does not have the button on the passenger’s door. Never missed them, but would be curious if the wiring for it is hiding underneath the plastic cover. Would be any easy retrofit then.

Based on the safety protocol you described I would guess you actually live in Guatemala or Iraq.

Not yet, but government and media are working on it.

Australia model (assume the same build as EU build) does not have it. And neither any of other BMW models which I have owned (X3, X4, M4, M5). And I dont see any reason to have the need for that with our everyday driving.

BMW should have included a lock/unlock button on the dashboard instead of that intelligent safety aid button. I’ve never once pressed it. I can’t imagine anyone changing those settings often enough that a dedicated button is necessary.
