That's a great point and a sobering reminder of the environment we are in today. Thank you for sharing that.

Seattle area. KBB fair purchase price is $100K (on an assumed MSRP of $100K) which doesn't include the delta for individual paint or other parts not available in KBB for me.

More importantly the M Performance Parts - which if I were remotely interested in selling, I'd not yield getting less than top dollar on. That's usually not possible, but again, I'm not interested in selling and there's no half-assed spec M4 Comp M xDrive available to buy in this area let alone a top spec one.

While it's looking good relative to what I got for it, I cannot replace the car like for like and have the same lifetime out-of-pocket - higher rates obviously. And then there's the wait. And, of course, almost certainly the stupid iDrive 8 infotainment system which would be what's everywhere by the time a new allocation materialized for my new position in the queue.

Yes, even Xdrive cars are dropping significantly - both trade and retail. Used market the major of cars are Xdrive. Higher msrp cars will be hurt the most. I still think there is a sweet spot of around 90k on these cars.

I expect prices to drop on everything automotive, some just sooner and faster than others.

If you are thinking about selling anytime in the next year or two, now is the time. I'm watching a couple bmw models and the drops are finally hitting the retail side.

As many of you have said the m3x prices are still strong, but i don't think it will last. Just more pent-up demand than most cars.

Here is the latest mmr for 2022 m3x. But remember, yours is only worth what someone will pay for it on the spot. If you don't need the tax credit, retail is obviously best, but those buyers are moving to the sidelines like all others fairly quickly.

There are plenty of cash buyers like me, but we are waiting for the deals....

I'm in the cash buyer group too. Porsche put all GT cars on hold so looks like I need a tweener car and I ain't buying one unless I can get a good deal. Rates are irrelevant to me so I hope they keep going up pulling prices down.

Exactly.

If people are getting more than they paid for their cars, nice! It never occurred to me that the G80/G82 was any type of appreciating asset. Too common.

I bought my first new car 53 years ago. Since then 36 more new ones. Over the same time period 18 new motorcycles, the last 11 were BMWs. Thinking I might qualify as a "gear head." Bought my first new BMW car in 2012 and have no plans on switching.

Needless to say, none of us have ever seen used car prices like we have the last 18-24 months. With two BMW's in our garage (X3 M40i and M550i) last year in April we decided to buy a new 2022 Miata convt, 6 spg, to see if we would enjoy a two seat roadster. Paid cash for it and found we loved the style. We never intended to keep it very long, only to determine if we liked the style and top down driving. Got $3000.00 off when we purchased it. Had it four months and with 7300 miles, traded it in on a 2022 Z4, M 40i. Traded it in for exactly what we paid for it. Crazy times!

Loved the Z4, but wasn't happy with the back draft and side, window down, air turbulence. Figured sooner or later I might get back into an M4, only this time with a soft top. Told the same to my dealer assistant GM friend last winter over a cup of coffee. Fast forward to June 14th this year and he calls me out of the blue to tell me that the day before BMW dropped four unexpected allocations on them. Two M5s, an M440 and an M4 convt. Both M5's already sold, but he was holding the M4 until checking with me. Told him I'd be in the next day for coffee and a decision. Poured my coffee, sat down in his office and said, "first things first, what will you give me on my Z4 trade?" Z4 8 months old with 9900 miles. Looks at my folder and says exactly what you paid for it. Done deal! Built my G83 and exactly 70 days later I drove it home.

90% of our top down days are not on freeways. 4500 miles on it this fall before I put it into hibernation. Due to the increased distance between the trunk deck and the front seats, there is little back draft. I have no need to install the screen. Side windows down and next to nothing for side wind turbulence. And in addition, a back seat for a cooler, snacks, etc that the Z4 couldn't provide. All within easy reach in the back seat.

Sooooo, I've been playing musical chairs for the past 18 months and when the music stops, so be it, I have just what I wanted!

Just traded my 2022 M3 Comp for a 2023 M3 Comp. When I first started getting offers in mid-October, for the 2022, my best offer was $79K (Raleigh, NC area). I only had the car for 5 months and had 3800 miles on it. MSRP was $80.7K. One month later when I finally sold it, I got $76.8K. Mileage was 4700. Was surprised on how much it dropped in just a month. Still got some equity back fortunately.

Lol was hoping no one would ask this. Long story short, I'm a massive dumbass and, in my excitement in ordering my first M3, I didn't do nearly a good enough job making sure I had all the options I wanted, and forgot to add the parking assist package to my build. I really loved that feature on my M340i, as I have a tight parking spot in my garage and the 360 deg cameras are awesome. I tried to live without it for two months but couldn't, and now I have a 2023 haha.

MSRP on mine was $82k and offered 71k about two months ago by the KBB cash offer service. Had about 11k miles at the time. I had a 991.1TT before this and was having some nostalgia but I want to keep this car forever. 991.1TT is my favorite car I've owned to date but this one is a close second place. Just so much more versatile

Haha thanks! I was fortunate enough to have enough equity to not have to put any money down and just a slight increase in monthly payments.

So far I have to say I do like iDrive8. The screens really are sharp and the added width of the main screen really is nice, especially in maps mode. It does take getting used to (I spent two hours just sitting in my car when I got it, going through the menus to learn where everything is). I did like the organization of widgets and information on iDrive7 more than 8, but I'm still able to configure it to get it mostly where I need it to be. Change is hard, but I'm sure it'll get better as BMW fine tunes it.

This pretty much sums things up

After a blockbuster few years during the COVID-19 pandemic, Carvana has seen 98% of its market value evaporate and its stock plunge. The upstart used car retailer is fading fast, It's admitted to being too bullish on buying cars to sell cars that it had acquired at a premium but has since had to sell at lower prices. Now that auto production has largely recovered, used car prices are at their lowest level since August 2021.

The trade in value good times are done. Price increases coupled with back to normal trade in values = keeping M4 for a couple/few years.

Mmr doesn't give you a chance to adjust for options. Its prices are based on a mix of cars that have gone through recently.

The adusted mmr number on your car is 85700. But 7 of the 9 sales used as comps were from sept and oct. The market has changed a lot in just a short period of time.

This number is also based on a condition grade of 5.0, which is basically perfect condition. Anything less would be a deduction.

Thanks. Yeah, recently I’ve received $85k quotes, so seems about right. Last month, a BMW dealer offered $88k but only if I bought something off their lot. Certainly not expecting anything crazy like last year’s used car prices, but just obviously looking to get the most if I were to sell, and online estimates are either ridiculously over generous or too low. I noted the options above in case anyone here was interested, and my car is mint
